Yesterday was insane; superb football, nearly nicked a point and no weak links. The upper loft was really rocking.....but.... I expected the support or Ferdinand, but have to say that I am really disappointed with the chanting towards Lescott. Why on earth were the masses singing the "elephant man" chant?! A guy gets injured in a car cash when he was a young lad and we sing about that!! Bloody awful if you ask me. Massively hypocritical too be outraged by a racial slur from one person, then have thousands doing that to Lescott. Not my proudest moment explaining to my 13 year old nephew what the chant was about. Come on lads, no need for that.
The guys who thought of it were stood pretty much right behind me and I was so angry I thought everyone was on the same page as me as they tried for a good twenty minutes to get it going and were just ingnored. I was ashamed when others started joining in.
Newbury Hoop. That kind of chanting said more about a few idiots in the crowd than it did about Lescott.
Agreed. I was off-line around the time of the Chelsea win but I also thought it was a bit tasteless when Lampard was being handed the ball by a fan for a throw-in and when he was just about to give it to him he threw it away and gave the wan*er gesture right into his face. Can't quite understand the mentality of such people.
Didn't hear the chant myself, or if I did, I didn't understand what was being said!! Totally out of order imo. I'd also like to say that Lescott is a far better player than I'd previously thought too!
I was gonna say the same thing as swords. Yesterday when the ball came in to the Paddock, Kolarov came to collect it and some kid threw it back hard at him, cathing him in the b######. The look he got back was pure hate. It just keeps happening when an opposition player comes over to collect the ball it gets thrown away from him or he gets a mouthful of abuse. Is this really the reputation we want to be getting ? I always thought most of our fans are pretty respectful but i'm begining to have a rethink.
I just think that some people are getting a bit carried away with trying to make the atmosphere really intimidating. However, the atmosphere WAS pretty intimidating and we need to keep that up!
The funniest thing though Northolt was the look Kolarov gave the kid, at one point i really thought he was gonna jump in the paddock and knock himout. Now that would really of been funny
I actually think it's good against teams like City we might aswell do everything we possibly can to intimidate them
It does make me laugh when you see a player go to take a throw-in and six or seven people in the crowd are gesticulating like maniacs and effing and blinding. They're an embarassment to themselves.
To sing "John Terry,we know what you said"...which was super, but to then have a few panzy prats singing "Elephant man" to Lescott, made me feel sick. Hide up in the corner, with all your tough mates...what a load of numptys
Sorry to disagree mate but i think it makes us look like complete c####. And i'm sure he was far from intimidated.
I agree.....I thought I had missed the punchline, was thinking that surely no way were chanting about his disfigurement. No place for that in football. Or anywhere to be fair.
I did not hear any chanting against Lescott but I totally agree with Newbury there is no need for that.
