Is this good news for them? This is what he said: "I now want to turn things around at Portsmouth and see the club regain its rightful position. The success of this goal can only be achieved if all parties with a vested interest in the club's business work together. Let's not be under any illusions though: we are planning to take on a club with severe financial problems that cannot be fixed overnight. I don't have a magic wand but many important elements - a proud history, passionate supporters and one of the country's top managers - are already in place and provide a strong platform on which we hope to build stability." Erm, what??
That's true, but he'll want to ensure that they don't go to the wall (before he gets his £19m back at least). Surely that's the best they can hope for right now? After all, no one else has made an offer and time is running out
It is the best they can hope for so it's good news purely based on the alternatives. I just wonder how long until Chanrai says he can't be bothered.
So this whole saga in going to carry on for another season... The Football League still have to carry out Fit and Proper Test again and see that Portsmouth can fulfill iit's fixture list next season. They still have to sell big time! And show that they can make money as opposed to continuously losing money... It may be that they have to have a mass points deduction also because of CVA failure... This saga just gets more amusing...!
How, just how is he allowed to keep coming back & pulling the same scam? Just when is someone going to say 'thats enough now.' Its a bad joke.
What fool this pleb is. First of he lent to a football club just a totally idiotic thing to do. Also he has never heard of the old saying dont throw good money after bad. I wonder just how he thinks he is going to get his money back. At league one level that will take decades pompey and thats with no investment in the team etc. He should do the right thing write of the debt or atleast half of it to alow a proper owner to come in.
The best way to sageguard his £19 million+ is to pay more money to buy it back, and then fund their monthly losses until they break even. Then he needs to invest more money to build the squad back up to try and break out of L1 where the lack of TV money, and their poor attendances will ensure more losses! That seems like a plan!
I am beginning to think that the fans would be better suited to seeing their club go under and start again. Though the ground is not great it is bigger than the vast majority of lower league clubs. A fresh start could see them start on an even keel with players that don't get paid stupid money and a fan base that will grow as the newly formed club does. There are plenty of fans that would be willing to stick with the club no matter where they end up.
I love the fact he's trying to come across all pure and well-intented, when everyone knows it's a complete facade and he doesn't give two ****s about the Club - he just cares about the wads of cash he's mistakenly poured into it.
It's going to take a lot for Pompey fans to give up on their club. I asked Pompey supporters on a previous thread but never heard back whether there is a big enough collective to start a fresh club if Chainari became the owner again solely to protect his money. Personally I don't believe there is and the Pompey faithful will cling on to their club. What Chainari does next is up to him. He either invests a serious amount to try and get Pompey back up the pyramid system or he just stabalises the club and very slowly collects his money back over the long haul or until he can find a buyer silly enough to spend the 15-20 million required.
Hard for him to do that with Financial Fair Play regulations coming in and preventing him investing large amounts into transfer or having a wage bill over 60% of the turnover.
I would have agreed with you as recently as 6 months ago. But I think that the Blue football club may have got under the man's skin. He's not a billionaire, but he's very, very comfortably off. It'll need a lot of investment in the right areas, for little return other than excitement, and I think he, and the people he convinces to invest, might be hooked onto such a thing. For PFC's sake, I hope so.
How can the FL let him come back a third time. Seems like twice should be enough to realize he is not up to the job. If it was a choice of him or nothing seems like nothing would be the better option. Think if we were in the same boat and our only option was to have RL come back or shut down. Maybe you get a few good years but you know where it will end up.
In the eyes of Financial/business law Chainari is an innocent. He has placed the club in administration twice because he had been defaulted loan repayments, not because he had run the business poorly. We could go round and round this merry go round a few more times. Like the last administration Chainari is only here because no one will touch such a poisonous investment, but despite his wealth, he cant write off 18 million.
