Morning everyone. We are coming to the end of our first week in our new home and I for one am enjoying it, change is always difficult and takes time to adjust but in my view, it's going well. I just wanted to say thank you to Ballin, Mackemsrule and Argus for what they have done because I think its things like the transfer day thread, weekly predictions, computer help thread and welcome thread that make the Sunderland forum a class above the others. We have many familiar names who come on day after day to write articles and give opinions, sometimes we fall out but always make up and in this cyber world we seem to make good fiends with people we have never met, never seen and may never really know. For me, maybe because I'm a sad old git, it's good to have so many people I know I can spend time with who share my strange addiction. In any other form to say I am a 62 year old man who gets real pleasure out of spending time talking about people kicking a ball about. When I then add how excited I am getting at the thought of going out tonight, to sit in the cold with other people and cheer and shout watching 11 young men in shorts running round a field trying to kick that ball and get it into a net, I would be locked up. I hope you are all enjoying this forum like me and it anyone can think of any other things that would help or entertain our members then it can only be good in my view. I have just read through this article and realise it sounds a little like the general thanking his troops, its not meant to be. Its meant to be a member and supporter thanking his mates.
Could I just add on a personal level, its really great to see cest back on form and becoming a regular again.
Some people might take this board for granted, but for me it's the only place I can talk to SAFC supporters. There are only 2 Sunderland supporters in Kenya, my mum (who I recently converted, she had absolutely no interest in football a couple of years back) and I. Or 3, when amsterdam roger flies in. I remember spending months searching for a supporters association in this part of the world. This board (and 606 before it) is the closest thing to that. PS Still working on converting my dad. My parents are great, but their lack of interest in football is truly astonishing. My dad lived in Leicester for years and never once bothered to go watch the Foxes play!
i have probably made more posts on here in a week than i did in a year on the beeb, the freedom of expression is wonderful and not having to worry about heavy handed mods. so many thanks to syd and the rest for making this board feel like home in only a week.
This board has come so far so quickly, and my thanks to ALL who help it run AND those who contribute. A massive THANKS - I'll raise to glass to everyone tonight
Well done as well from me too lads. There is a freedom on here that 606 never had but I still miss the old lady personally. Life goes on I suppose though. Unlike it does for the relegation doomed craas this morning
Dickmalone - something's definitely different and better. Wish I had more time to spend on here. Generally just get time for a quick scan.
Totally agree, this is much better than the old beeb and we seem to have lost most (not all) of the idiots. Thanks to all who make it what it is.
