I know I've been saying this for quite some time but we do need Faurlin or Granero in our side. Derry pass accuracy 60 % Mba 70% You can't have possession with that. Did we string 5 passes today? Our second half was one of the poorest games I watched this season. We we're under great amount of pressure. Against top 4 clubs I agree put them both in and let's hope we can hit them on the counter but today Faurlin should have played. Thoughts ?
Yes Faurlin should have played. Our ball retention was awful all game and got worse once Taarabt came off.
But even with a Granero or Faurlin in the side, there just doesn't seem to be enough players that can either put their foot on the ball and buy time, or find a teammate with a pass. We need the whole squad to be able to do this.
You're right, EP. Faurlin on form would make the world of difference. We looked hurried on the ball, and passing is hit and hope
Derry is simply not good enough, Faurlin should play over him every time. its not as if Faurlin hasnt got the same commitment as him.
Hes already got 2 better players than Derry in Faurlin and Granero. Our CM is good enough, we still need a CF and a couple of CBs.
He doesn't seem to fancy Faurlin at all. Granero is injured but I agree 2 CB and Habib should be bought
But didn't you post a thread a few weeks back criticising Faurlin's pass completion? Seems like he's the saviour when he's not in the side and an average player in it.
Totally agree, Derry has had his day. That is no disrespect to him, he has been brilliant for us and you'll never fault his commitment. Just age!
Yes he had very poor accuracy that time. I can't remember which game it was but I think he had better accuracy than Derry and Mbia, but I'm not certain. As you can see from my nickname I'd rather choose Granero but the main point is we need someone who can pass and keep possession.
We had lots of possession under hughes, look where that got us. What we need is to strike a balance. It's more import that we make our possession count, as oppose to how much we have.......
Mate today it was 30 %. It's hard to do anything with it and that's the reason why we were under so much pressure
Or, you are Granero? Maybe? Think Faurlin's accuracy must have been around the same, or otherwise why would you have posted it? Anyway, I agree in part - we do need better ball retention.

Me too! Hopefully he combines good ball control and passing with defensive nous, strength and speed. Apart from Park our central midfield players all seem to have some of these assets but are also missing others. Derry has great defensive understanding, but lacks speed. M'bia has strength and speed but defensive understanding doesn't look quite there. Ale has good passing control and technique but lacks speed like Derry. Granero has great ball control and passing abilty but doesn't seem tough enough defensively.
Do you not remember what happened when we started with Faurlin and Granero against the Hammers earlier this season? It was men v girls out there.
That's why I said we need to strike a balance. Harry went too defensive with the substitutions too early. Why not give hoillet a run out instead of traore?
