The Club is delighted to announce that Gareth Bale has signed a new four-year contract, committing his future to the Club until 2016. On signing his new deal, Gareth said: “I’ve been here for five years now and I’ve enjoyed every minute. The fans have been great to me and I’d love to re-pay them and do the very best for them. The Club is progressing and I want to be a part of that, so it was great to get the deal done. "I love the Club and the fans and I want to play my part in trying to get us back into the Champions League - where we belong. We’ve a good, young squad and we need to work together to get back on the biggest stage again." The popular left-sided player's performances over recent seasons have attracted worldwide acclaim and have seen him named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year in the past two seasons as well as the UEFA Team of the Year last year. A winner of the PFA Player of the Year award in 2011, Gareth has not looked back since establishing himself in the First Team at the start of 2010, making a key contribution not only to the Club securing Champions League football but also in the competition itself, notably with his performances against the trophy holders Inter Milan. Signed from Southampton in the summer of 2007 at the age of 17, the Wales international has won the Club's Young Player of the Year award in two of the past three seasons and has made a total of 160 appearances in our colours so far, scoring 29 goals. Well that's the end of those rumours, then. http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs/News/new-contract-for-gareth-27062012.page? What if our new manager doesn't rate him, though?
that's great news!!! On signing his new deal, Gareth said: âIâve been here for five years now and Iâve enjoyed every minute. The fans have been great to me and Iâd love to re-pay them and do the very best for them. The Club is progressing and I want to be a part of that, so it was great to get the deal done." - encouraging words, too. EDIT: I wonder how much he's on p/w? surely he got a pay rise?
It was thought he was on about 60k I believe. This contract might be the beginning of a raising in the wage cap, although thinking about it I don't think he's extended the length of his contract, if he has it must've only been an extra year.
He says and does all the right things that lad!! Even if that secures his playing future with us only for the next year, it has also surely increased his worth in the future. However, I actually think that GB means what he says. Bless 'im!!
That really has made my day, my first thoughts are that he must be aware of who the new manager is and perhaps they have enticed him with the promise of some big signings.....lets hope so anyway.
I'm now 100% convinced that things are sorted behind the scenes, but we just don't know about it yet. probably for legal reasons (which i think PNP pointed out in another thread. (sorry if it was someone else!))
Guys you will not believe me when I say it (especially after the Villas-Boas thread ) but I was actually tipped off about a week ago on Bale signing a new deal by the same "source" but thought it was total b*llocks and didn't bother posting it. If anyone has Twitter, I can prove I did already say it though! Perhaps the AVB deal I was told really is a goer then and there's just certain reasons why it's not been announced. So it's official, I'm ITK!!! WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!
The ITKs are claiming that Villas-Boas has actually agreed to take over, but it's not been made official because of some clause in his Chelsea deal. Something about him either being prevented from joining a Premier League club until July 1st or getting paid more if he doesn't, depending on who you believe, if anyone.
None of these people are "ITK", i mean for example I could pretend to be "ITK" and type "AVB is the main target and always has been, Levy is looking to offer him a three year contract after he has impressed in talks, the deals for Vertonghen and Sigurdsson are going to go ahead, with only personal terms holding up the Sigurdsson deal and Ajax holding up the Vertonghen deal. Levy sees AVB as the young exciting coach to work with this young spurs squad and adopt a more continental system, with Sherwood being given a more prominent role." My sources - common news and reading the web. Cheers
