"There are lots of fans around the world who wish Manchester United were winning it again," Scudamore told Bloomberg. "But you have to balance that off against, generally, we're in the business of putting on a competition and competition means people can compete." Generally!!!!!!! Well which is it Scudermore you either have a fair competetion or you don't, there should be absolutely no balancing involved. Is this an admition of guilt that the FA have treated Utd as the poster boy of the PL and as such will balence the PL as not to effect its popularity. Some dodgy decitions by the FA not to punish the Rooney incident for instance would suggest that is the case. So how long has this been going on? has the FA built up the popularity of the PL by making man united artifitially successful over the years. TBH nothing to do with the FA suprises me anymore, but the fact that he's so braisen that he think he can openly say it without any fear of reprisal gets my back up. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/26782112
Finally admitting what we all knew all along...the Fergie years were a farce and the results as genuine as 1970's wrestling matches Murdoch needed a new team in town and united were "the chosen ones".
Frankly anyone who represents the FA saying they want Man U to win for the Premiership financial benefits (and thus the FA's) does cast doubt over dealings the FA has with Man U over the past years. Were they being lenient with Man U? Influencing aspects, such as picking more favourable refs? Granted its unlikely, but can't say it raise a question that everyone's being asking for years. But hey we all knew the FA and Fergie have been fixing it for years
It's not like the chief executive of Man Utd was simultaneously also serving on the board of the FA and is now vice-chairman of the FA, and his son plays for Man Utd. Oh wait...
The only explanation is because he was talking to business website Bloomberg he forgot he was supposed to pretend to be honest and instead started talking about how to increase the viewing figures and hence profits which is all the Bloomberg audience care about.
Will somebody please tell me what this statement has to do with the FA? Scudamore is Chief Exec of the Premiership. Even from a Premiership standpoint the statement is more than a little surprising. The primary function of The Premiership is to manage a competition between participating club without any favour to one particular side. After that they are charged with maximising the income via tv rights and sponsorship for the benefit of the participating clubs. Now the tv rights both here and overseas have been sold on a TERM CONTRACT ie the income is fixed. Therefore Scudamore is mixing up several things here. Yes in certain countries viewership numbers may have decreased because United have been pathetic and YES if United (as I have predicted) continue in this vain for a number of seasons it could have an effect on the next round of tv rights sales. However, that means that Scudamore should get off his backside and work harder to sell the premiership package - and if he can't/won't he should be sacked! The product that he has to sell worldwide has been more exciting this season and more competitive this season than for many years. If he cannot motivate his staff to be able to sell an improved product then he is bloody useless as a Chief Exec!
Thing is Dave no member of one of England's ruling football bodies should show any bias or weakness towards one club, he might have been talking straight about the financial impact of man yoo's decline on them due to media losses but he emphasised that aspect more than the part about it being a more competitive competition due to yoonited's failings. He has added substance to the theory of Utd being helped to be successful over the years and they and his organisation will be under the spotlight even more now which is a good thing for the rest of us but bad news for Moyes.
I understand all of that Page. What I'm saying is that there's not even a commercial excuse for what he said. Every Chief Exec of every other Premiership club should be on the phone ripping him a new one for being a useless twat!
Glad you could find the time to drag yourself away from the Chav's and King Edwards boards and reply.
Doubly so as it's the most open title race maybe in the history of the prem, with city and Liverpool scoring for fun and all he can think about is how to keep united fans watching! As for the PL and the FA being totally separate entities don't make me laugh!
The united board is too easy right now....it's like shooting fish in a barrel....with a bazooka. Scudamores comments are going to be ringing in their ears for a long time Every time they win a game in fact (actually that won't be very often now I think about it)
Hopefully in due course, now that that fortress Ferguson is crumbling and the strong/stranglehold he and his cronies had over the league has lessened since his retirement, we will get a more thorough investigation into these dubious links, bias and corruption and Utd will be stripped of some of their 'assisted' league titles.
not a chance lol sadly, they if this was the case would probably face similar punishment to Rangers, ie demoted and they would still get their unfair advantage to other clubs in same league of tv games as well. hardly a punishment is it!
Febrile ranting? I notice you've been doing a lot of that lately on the other boards. Do you shout at clouds?
