Just announced (un-officially) on sky sports 4, a deal has been done with Real for 93 mil plus Coentrou. if this is true then i think it is a fantastic deal for you guys, do you think the same?

Who said what exactly? Seems a bizarre place to announce it.

Either way, Coentrao + £93m is way, way too much for Bale. I'd snap their hand off.

As I've said elsewhere, I don't think he will do very well for Madrid anyway.

Not sure who the guy is (Scott Minto keeps coming into my head) but it was straight after the Barca/Athletico game. He did say it was an un-confirmed report though.

Ah yeah that's been kicking around all day - I THINK it was Sky Italia who reported it first (not certain).

Whether it's true or not - £93m + Coentrao and I'd be absolutely delighted to get that for him.

£93m plus Coentrao is an unbelievable deal and should be accepted by Levy ASAP.

By my calculations (which arent always reliable), youve spent just under 90m so far, so its a great deal.

EDIT: That number above doesnt include Lamela, just realised.

Coentrao was one of the better Madrid players last season and i can`t understand why they would offer him plus that amount of money.

  7. I never thought I would say this, but Bale going could be the best thing that's happened to Spurs since we bought Jimmy Greaves!

The reason it's Coentrao is we appsrently tried to sign him anyway - as in nothing to do with Bale. Levy eants £105m so I guess we are saying 'well if you can't afford the £12m cash you can give us a player that's worth £20m that we want from you which technically costs you nothing'

Also Marcelo is their first choice LB towards end of last year so don't think Coentrao wants to sit on bench.

and Bale will be a flop at Madrid?

You're getting ahead of yourself and predicting everything to go perfect for us and Bale to fall flat on his face.

If everything was a simple as that to predict, we could all give up our day jobs, go down the bookies and make a fortune.

If forums aren't for predicting / putting across your opinion what are they for?

I do think it will go well for us, as in my opinion the players we have signed a good ones, and I don't think he will succeed at Madrid as I don't think their players attitudes suit the way he plays.

Coentrao keeps getting thrown in because it's the unusual case of it being in the best interest of both teams. Real don't start him and want to clear his big four year (?) contract off the books. Spurs would love to have him at left back. While it's understandable Spurs see him as a plus, Real looks at losing him as at worst as no loss, at best as a gain.

It'd pretty much cancel out all our spending if you include players who have left us too.

Then there's the TV money which we won't have touched...

I've come full circle on this now. To be able to have bought the players we have plus willian plus lamela plus coentrao for "free" and have the fees covered totally by player sales would be stunning business. We sold more than bought too so I don't think the wage bill would be worse (especially as 2 outs are likely to be our 2 biggest, ade & bale).

Then we can still buy another CB and a young striker for maybe £20-25m. That might be window-lust talking again

This is pretty much just the same speculation we've had in the Summer transfer window thread. Closed until something more concrete crops up.
