He got 53% of the vote, second placed RVP got second with 43% and apparently Suarez only got 2 votes!
so how many times has 1 player won all three then? I know Ginola got PFA+writers and Ronaldo/Gray got PFA+young. I'm guessing Ronnie also got writers?
Someone voted for Rickie Lambert. He's good old pro, but POTY? Really? He'll score against us now I've said that! Thought Mata would get more votes.
Bloody well done boyo! One of the most talented players ever to grace the white shirt and there have been a few.
Says on the BBC article that only Ronaldo has won young player of the year, player of the year, and footie writers player of the year in the same year.
I really like Mata, and when the PFA awards were made, there seemed to be a lot of uproar from rival fans about why he didn't get it. - Yet Bale did, who apparently has only had "half a season" For me, the same applies to Mata. I thought he was the stand out player in the first half of the season, but IMO he's faded a little bit at times in recent months. - Therefore he's no different to what they've all been saying about bale, just the other way round. The difference being that Bale has been better. Probably going to have DL come down on me like a tonne of bricks now!
A good day all round.... Well deserved award and AVB goes public to say that he understands GB will be staying irrespective of whether we get CL footie next year. "I'll be very surprised if he goes" ........ Now lets just get 3 points this weekend!!
Mata may not have ever been likely to win it, but the amount of votes cast for him by the writers mob is a bit insulting IMHO (not showing in the PFA vote I can understand) .
"I would be extremely surprised (if he left this summer), but in football anything can happen. It is impossible to predict. This is the assurance I have from the club." Clever wording AVB! - Not completely ruling it out, but making it seem like the board will **** him over if they sell Bale, as they've pretty much told him otherwise. What they've said to him must have given AVB enough confidence for him to talk about it publicly. So if he's sold, it backfires on Levy etc and not him.
"in football anything can happen. It is impossible to predict." This is the "assurance" AVB has been given ?? God, that Levy is dark !!! :-D
I've been a spurs since the mid 70's as an 8 year old...We've not had a player like him but I'd say Hoddle and Ossie were better cos they played at such a high level for many years. I think historically White; Jennings; Mackay; Greaves; Smith and Blanchflower would all be higher up the list ... Bale is still a fantastic player and I can see why people see rate as the best they've seen.
Have to agree,Bale isn't Better than many of the player's on your list, maybe better than Jimmy, except when it comes to scoring goals,NOBODY was better than him.
