http://www.caughtoffside.com/2012/0...ncini-looks-to-land-number-one-summer-target/ I know the source is dodgy...but nevertheless...would you?
It's a wum article, nothing more. Levy has said that the likes of Moddy and Bale are not for sale "at any price." I wonder what part of that people fail to understand?
There's a price for everything. However, the price in City's case, would be so astronomical, it would make Carroll look like a bargain!
when you compare £50 mill for bale, against £35 mill for Carroll, it looks like a total insult. that in mind, I'd want £300 million for Bale.
I think this would be a disaster for Spurs - much as we gooners like to mock Bale, he is a quality player. One you cant afford to lose and won't be able to replace. You need to first ensure CL football, then keep Bale, otherwise you'll be heading backwards, not forwards.
He bases his article on this... Tottenham may well struggle to keep their top stars if a top four spot is not secured and could prove all the more vulnerable if Harry Redknapp is persuaded to fill the vacant England manager role. ...moron
Alternatively, we could end up getting in Billic, keeping Moddy, and strengthening our squad, including buying two top strikers. See! We can all play the guessing game
At the moment Spurs are consistently a top 5 club, which they were before Bale and would no doubt be should Bale go. One player teams are the danger and we are not that. So in other words these scare stories don't scare me.
I think you are over valuing some of your players, cesc only cost £35 million, and he is a better player than bale.
So Carrol is as good as Cesc then is he? and Torres is much better, right? Go away, think about it, and then try to put a proper argument.
They're not really comparable players, but the £29m that you got for Fabregas was a bit of a rip off. They had you over a barrel, as he basically forced a move and would only go to them. Why he's not treated as a villain, whereas Nasri is, I'll never know. Hometown club, my arse. If he loved them so much, then why did he leave for a more lucrative contract to join Arsenal and then do the reverse for even more cash?
My understanding is that he took a pay cut, of around 5 million over the course of the contract, that 5 million will then be given to arsenal to make it up to the 35million mark, it was the only way he could get the move. I agree that we never got the money that we should, but unfortunately you may find yourself in a similar position if bale were to make some noise about moving. He doesn't seem like the type to make a fuss, but with a greedy agent whispering in his ear you never know. The point that I am really trying to make is that with the exception of city no foreign club will pay more than about 30 million for bale, did barcas president not actually say that himself, unfortunately if a player want to move, then he probably will end up getting his wish.
Fabregas gave up £5m to Arsenal? Sounds extremely unlikely. Where did you hear that? If clubs won't stump up appropriate fees, then Levy will tell them to sod off. I think that he showed that this summer with Chelsea's £40m bid for Modric. Barca can go **** themselves with their derisory attempts to tap up players for reduced fees. With clubs like City, Malaga, PSG and a host of Russian sides throwing cash around, they can either match the going rate or look elsewhere.
Arsenal received 15million up front initially, then another 14 million on November, and the further 5 million was to be paid in instalments over a 4 or 5 year period, this was to be taken of cescs wages, he agreed to it as it was the only way he could move. That why we could not spend all the money replacing him, as we did not receive it all. He will probably make up the money in image rights so its probably not a big deal to him. It was the story that was doing the rounds at the time of the transfer, and I can't really be bothered looking it up again, feel free to not believe me lol. As jayram pointed out, it will all depend on CL for you guys, I seem to remember that you posted a small profit in the last set of accounts, but that included CL money, if you make CL im sure you will keep bale, but if you do not, then 2 years without CL footy may change that. I agree that levey runs a tight ship financially, and is a very good business man, but that could also be part of the problem, if it is envisaged that you will make a loss next year and the year after that he may decided that he need to cash in on one of either modric or bale.
Maybe not the most reputable source but here is an article on the http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/aug/15/barcelona-cesc-fabregas-arsenal-tears
I did hear the rumour that Arsenal's captain paid £5mill to leave the club(), I don't think it was ever confirmed though. As you say. It's not about what he's worth though with Levy, it's how much he wants for him.
