Bale has come out with the statement that by being clever he has got players sent off this year. To me this is tantamount to cheating. I have said on here before about his diving and after this statement surely he will be a marked man by refs which will be detrimental to the whole team, as good as he is I don't want a cheat in a Spurs shirt
I dont think it is cheating, he is very quick footed and skillful and most defender stick the boot in, thats their problem if they are not winning the ball cleanly and picking up bookings/sendings off. I dont remember a player getting sent off against Bale that didnt deserve it. When I am watching and I see a full back getting booked early on, My thoughts would be to get the ball out to the opposing winger to constantly take him on, he either, has to allow that player to pass him or he runs the risk of picking up a 2nd yellow. Thats being clever, not cheating.
From a neutral, I have to say I think he dives a lot, there was one which was a blatant dive to win a free kick a la Larsson penalty against Wolves but I can't remember who it was against? Norwich maybe?
To the OP I think the article had him saying the if he didn't go to ground on certain occasions he would almost certainly get injured . Opposing managers plan to stop him playing, some tactically like double teaming him or others tell their hard men go out and stop him not bothered how you do it. Those that think he always dives should take a good look at how he plays, his feet are so quick that he sometimes overbalances and falls that is not diving. However saying that i'm pretty sure he has conned some refs a some time all players do it.
I think this is the article PNP http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...-gareth-bale-rejects-dive-accusations?cc=3436
You are misunderstanding what he said. He said he got people sent off because of reckless tackles not by diving, and that is why he takes evasive action. After what Charlie Adam and a host of full backs have done to him, it is no wonder he avoids getting clattered.
That doesn't say that he dives to get people sent off. It says that he runs at players that foul him repeatedly, so that they'll be sent off. That's completely different. Bale has dived this season on a couple of occasions and I'd like to see him cut it out of his game. I'd also like to see those that clog the crap out of him punished properly and I hope that the ref tomorrow will keep an eye on Phil Neville, who seems to set out to injure him every time we play Everton.
What he said was badly worded and out of the context of the statement it looks like he's saying he cheats. His full statement's no different to what we were saying yesterday, however.
Was it last season where Neville kneed him in the back at Goodison, forced him off and it changed the complexion of the game. Niko came on, on the left and was totally hopeless, they got their winner down that side.
He's done it a few times, PL. At WHL a year or two ago he repeatedly fouled him, including one that was similar to the one that put Dawson out for the rest of this season. Cynically pushing somebody off balance when they're in the air is becoming more frequent, unfortunately.
After reading this ******ed post I immediately assumed that coyspurs is a WUM and not a spurs supporter at all. You will find that almost all his posts are negative about Spurs. Bored gooner, I'd say. http://www.not606.com/search.php?searchid=1067829
The article doesn't say what the OP says it says. Interested by the amount of diving news on Bale at the moment. Yes, like others I wish he'd cut it out but on the other hand it can't be argued that he's had some rough treatment, often receiving no protection from refs. Neville and Adam spring to mind. The other interesting note is how someone like Ronaldo can spend his entire career in the PL diving around and attracts about the same amount of publicity about it over the whole time as Bale has done in the relatively short amount of time it has been "news".
I doubted it at first because it was only quoted in the Mail but the Press Association also use that quote in their story so I'd assume that is acutally what he said/wrote.
The point is that he does not say that he dives to get people sent off, that is the wrong interpretation. The OP is clearly a gooner or scouser going by his past posts, as Lenny says above.
The lad takes never ending stick week in week out, which is seldom punished. If he goes over easy once in a while. I can't blame him.I have actually seen him go down to avoid serious injury. He is definately a target for the cloggers out there. Ironically watching what he has to put up with makes me look at Ronaldo in, if not a different light, maybe a slightly more sympathetic one.
I hate diving but it is worth remembering that bale signed for us in July 07...was very good at times until he was caught late v Brum and was out from Dec 07 til sept 08. He then got another season ending injury from an horrific tackle last season...interestingly neither tackle got a red card.
i dont blame him one bit....the refs cant do their job so he has to watch his own back...we all knew this was the reason anyway.....i dont think he had to bring it up to get himself under the microscope...because now he will make refs think twice as to wether a foul is genuine or not against him..with them 'grey area' tackles.
The thing that annoys me about this is that it appears to have been blown up by something which was undoubtedly a foul. The Stevenage player that suggested it was a dive should apologise after seeing a replay, as there's no doubt that he made substantial contact.
