Sam Baldock is currently being linked with a deal worth £2 Million and Steve Davies from Derby at £500K. We shouldn't be spending £2m on anyone unproven and certainly no more loans so no to Baldock. Davies has a good strike rate though that's a good deal at £500k
Oh and to answer your other point Warky - we do definitely need two or three strikers, a winger, two centre backs and two keepers. I don't expect us to get them all this summer.
Apparently it's between us and Palace for Baldock's signature so that counts us out and as for Davies, Derby are asking for £1 Million
Davies for me - Definitely better value for money, Baldock is good but isn't what we need, Davies is more of a physical presence and would be available for less than a million, Baldock would be £2million minimum and wouldn't fit well with chops up top or with Martin in behind... unless we sign the both of them?? But for me Davies is the guy for us
Sign em both i say, get rid of Duke and Murray. We will deffo get in the keeper and CB's its just a matter of will it be our main targets or will it be last minute panic buys? Hopefully we can get in main targets but i'm not holding my breath as i honestly think we piss arse about too much when it comes to going all out to get our man!!
Baldock for me all day long. Davies is far too injury prone. Davies wouldn't cost £1 mill, he's handed in a transfer request which would knock the price down. £800k tops I think. Baldock would be on loan with a view to a move. Yes please!

Is Baldock actually that good, or are people just getting drawn into the fact that the Hammers spent over 2.5 million for him and he scored a few when he first moved there and therefore assuming he must be good?? because quite honestly I don't understand people being so interested in signing a guy that would cost a minimum of £2 million. I can appreciate that his record at MK Dons was good (but so is Bowditch's currently) and that he is a good player but I can't see it being in our best interets to sign somone for that price. As for the comment about Davies being injury prone, a fractured skull would surely be classed as a freak accident rather than a legitimate injury (unless the guy has a soft skull??)

I agree whilst we get player after player on short-term loan, this won't help matters at all. However, what is wrong with a player on loan for a season with a view to buy if he's any good? He's not going to play for West Ham. If he's a disaster the loan could be cancelled. IF we have 1 or 2 loans, which I have NOTHING against, as long as we have OTHER options in that position and we don't do a Stockdale, 24 hour recall in a key position, then what is the issue really? I have seen Baldock several times and he's always been a danger. Rather avoid Davies, not for me.

Davies is supposed to be a bit of a dark horse between the sticks and I've heard that Baldock, although a short arse is infact an amazing centre back Paul Jewell is a ****ing idiot. This is akin to crashing your car then going out and buying a new washing machine....... FFS Buy a goalkeeper and at least one, no, definately two centre backs!!!!!! What the **** is wrong with him?
