Hi All I know there is a lot of talk on the board about how negative/positive we are/were. I loved watching us with Lambert at the helm because 9 times out of 10 it would be agreat game to watch and we were more than likely to score goals but I agree that it may not lead us to sustained top flight football. I have no problems with how we have approached games this term but I dont think we have the balance correct going from left to right. I know we have struggled to get both Bennett and Pilkington playing but I feel they give us natural width - I am not sure Snodgrass is the answer, not on the right anyway. I think he has been in some excellent positions but not been able to provide the service due to his reluctance to use his right foot. I am not for one moment critising his performances as I think he is a very good signing for us. I do wonder whether maybe he could be tried in the Hoolahan role or on the left hand side. Both Holt and Morison thrive on crosses and I think playing him on the right is stopping some service. I also think another reason why we arent scoring as many as I think we could with the squad we have are that the teams we have played are often set and in positions before we start to probe. I think that playing Bennett may allow us to expose teams on the counter attack and allow us better crossing and shooting opportunities. Teams are always weakest when they are stretched or out of position so I think we are making things hard for ourselves. I do think it will be a tight one this year and I hope we have enough to stay up but if not we will have a hell of a squad for the championship. I think we may need to let one or two midfielders go in January as I just dont see the benefit in having so many players who play in the same or similar postions. I wouldnt say that but we have so many centre midfielders, attacking midefielders or wider midfielders yet still seem short on what I would call out and out wingers who I think would provide the key service. on a side note, really happy that Wes got a good run out and played so well. I have really rated both Garrido and Bassong. Garrido has been quality every game so far and I hope we can bring him in permanently. Lets hope Bassong's injury isnt bad but if its a hamstring then we may not see him next weekend even if it isnt that bad.
I noticed that in the wet sham game, he could have had at least 1 decent chance if he would have used his right foot!
