Report reveals interesting figure for Bristol City and Aston Villa fans regarding key transfer According to a report in the Bristol Post, it has been revealed that the Robins paid Aston Villa a sum of £3.9m for star defender Nathan Baker in the summer. At the time of Baker signing, the official fee was never revealed, with both clubs sticking to the ‘undisclosed’ option. However, with Aston Villa revealing their official accounts for the 16/17 period, it has been revealed that the Villans received the fee from City, a fee which to most Robins fans, will now seem quite the bargain. The big defender has been one of the key men behind Lee Johnson’s sides surprising run at promotion, and with Aden Flint alongside him, the club have managed to piece together one of the most highly-rated central defensive pairings outside of the top flight. Baker had previously impressed during a loan spell at Ashton Gate, and his form convince Johnson to get his board to splash the cash on the Aston Villa man. The defender is currently suspended and has seen his teammates struggle in his absence, with a defeat at Bolton and a home draw with Sunderland both coinciding with Baker’s absence from the team. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/r...ty-and-aston-villa-fans-regarding-key-transfer/
I was underwhelmed at the signing at first, but he grew on me. Despite growing to like him I was still surprised at how bad our defence has been during his ban. We definitely need him back for our season to get back on track.
