Thought it was great to see so many young bairns at the match last night, and the club is to be heartily congratulated on keeping a pricing policy for cup games that encourages people to take their kids along. In a strange way the manner in which the game unfolded last night may have been a positive - the crowd were completely flat for 75 minutes but once Jozy scored the atmosphere racked up and 15 minutes later the whole stadium was rocking (well as much as it can with 18 odd thousand in there).

On the bus going back to the park and ride there was a bloke sat behind me with his daughter of about 8 or 9, she was absolutely buzzing saying how much she had enjoyed the game, her dad was talking about getting tickets for the Liverpool game and she was mad keen to go. That's the future of the club right there, plus a full paying adult fan to take her along...

I felt hearty sorry for a little girl of about 5 who was sitting in front of me, who was told to shut her gob by her mother when she started to sing red and white army..I was very tempted to say something, but decided that it wasn't worth it..

Kids are the lifeline of the club, with so much exposure of the game it easy for them to fall into the Man U etc, trap. By taking them to the game they get the feel and buzz and lose interest in the glory boys.

    This.

So many clubs are starting to offer really good prices for kids to come along. Its good because they need to experience what its like to be in a full stadium that's rocking, nothing quite like it IMO.

Can I just say, it's great to young uns at the game, starts them on the road to obsession, my problem is the shear amount of toddlers who were far to young to be there was shocking. Some parents are absolutely disgraceful, losing patients left right and center with toddlers who were incapable of understanding or holding interest in what was going on. There needs to be a minimum age. Some folk aren't fit to be parants.

Hope you are not teaching your kids how the write mate.:emoticon-0116-evilg

But what do you suggest that the age should be?

How old were these toddlers that you speak of?

Maybe, just maybe, this is one of the downfalls of all seater stadiums.

I can remember my first game. Got cheap tickets through school. Was when we went up under Reidy. Hammered Port Vale 4-0 I think. From then on I was hooked.

Off course it was a cheap shot, an intentional one, it was your last line that done it. Only taking the piss.

My social skill are superb, i always ask the tarts up front how much, none of this, 'whoa, that's to much pet' afterwards.

Anyhow, like i hit upon earlier, maybe 4 is a bit young, now that the stadiums are all seated. Gone are the days of a rope and bench to peer over.

Gone are the days that kids could run around their parents, who were trying to watch a match.

Gone are the days a father could take his kids to a game, and everyone would look after them.

Now everyone expects a kid to sit there, watch the match, don't move, only cheer or shout or sing in your seat.

Like i asked earlier....at what age should kids be going to a match these days, with the intolerant way of humans these days?

I know mate, I was taking the piss back ;)

It would be sad to bring a minimum age in. Parents should know their own kids well enough to know when they're at the right age to gain something from the experience. Kids develop at different speeds after all. Like you said, the terrace days are gone. It's very unreasonable to make an uninterested child to sit for 90 minutes and shut up. A lot of kids should have been at home in bed.

Flip side to it though, loads of kids filled with enthusiasm and catching the bug. Lovely to see.

What my dad did was when I was younger he used to take me to reserve games. It was a couple of quid or something at the time and if I was getting restless he had no problem leaving at half time. It was good way to introduce young'uns to the game. Its a lot more relaxed and you dont feel bad if you leave early because it hasnt cost a fortune

I don't go to many games. Usually 2-4 PL games per season. Went last night 'cos' it was only a tenner. Was canny glad i went in the end, albeit it was utter garbage for the most part
