The West Brom defender racked up 165 appearances during his six-year spell at Craven Cottage before being shown the door by Martin Jol in 2013. Baird, who can also play in midfield, helped Burnley to promotion from the Championship last campaign but has featured just a handful of times since his summer switch to the Hawthorns. Symons is a big admirer of the Northern Irishman and is keen to add the 32-year-old to his squad.â Source: http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/fulham-target-loan-move-west-8098107 Well he was also known as âMr Versatilityâ so where would he play? The much troubled right back spot? Or as a replacement for Bodurov? Or in a more limited role as cover for Parker when he tires? Whatever, wherever youâd think he would bring that bit of stability and composure currently lacking in our defence.
I would be open to this move certainly. I'd prefer him to play at right back but he could cover so many positions if needs be.
Total legend fir me and would be terrific in the current set up. Defensive midfielder, he played tjis role well on several occasions on the Europa run. Right back or centre back versatlity, centre back was his preferred role when he signed for us. Well done Kit.
I'd be happy to see him back anywhere across the back four or DM. He'd bring much needed composure to the defence. Reports in Birmingham say it's unlikely to happen though. At least not before January.
I'd be happier to see him at centre back or in midfield than at right back, but it would be great to see him back at the club. I'm not convinced it's going to happen though, even though he's not getting a lot of gametime at West Brom. I bumped into West Brom manager Alan Irvine playing crazy golf in Southport during the summer (!) and told him to tell Chris Baird he was still loved at Fulham. He seemed really pleased with how Bairdinho was doing. I wouldn't be surprised if he sees value in having a solid pro like that around his squad, even if he isn't getting much gametime. Then again, if Bairdinho isn't happy, who knows what might happen?
Rumours that Gareth McAuley, also of West Brom, is looking for a move for first team football. Don't know much about him, but he was West Brom's player of the year two years ago. Worth a short term loan until January?
I remember having him in my fantasy team that season, because he got a goal or assist almost every other game. He's a full back too, if I remember rightly. That's the extent of my knowledge.
