It looks as though Jol is going for a quick fix in his bid for 2 strikers. He's back for Jerome and has tabled £3m plus (horrors) Chris Baird. In to this I read between the lines that the signing of Grygera (£3m also) has gone through and he's hanging on to Kelly.

The other striker he's pushing hard for is, as previously posted, Zaha.

I cannot believe this, baird at the moment is the closer thing we have to a premier league right back and he's gonna be part of a deal to bring in a striker who while may be a good player, his record hardly suggests he'll cure our goalscoring concerns. If were gonna do a player plus cash deal, it shouldn't definitely be kelly who is offered rather than baird. I get the impression grygera is similar to baird in being a versatile defender, so I'm relatively positive about his potential signing. Don't really know anything about zaha so can't really comment on that 1.

    !It all baffles me!.
As I have said before,Take Zaha from Palace,in a swop for AJ,he is a hero there,
and pay half of his salery for two years,i would rather see Frei playing much more inventive than Johnson.

I hope this is not true. We need to keep Baird. To me, he is Mr Reliable.

This sounds too much of a gamble.

It's all bad news. I just watched a Youtube compilation of Zaha work. This kid makes D Kamara look like a thoughtful, controlled player. He's not Fulham material.

This better not be true. Losing Baird would only make matters worse!

The timing of the Baird / Jerome rumour seems odd given that Baird's just started the last two matches. If Grygera's any good then I can live with Baird leaving. Great pro and great servant to the club that he's been, there are better right-backs in the world - I just hope Grygera's one of them. There's always the utility player argument about Baird, but there are other players in front of him at CB and CM as well.

In other news, the Bild newspaper in Germany are linking Michael Ballack with a move to Fulham or Blackburn. Because what we really need is another central midfielder in his mid-thirties! Can't be true - can it?

I could believe it if Blackburn were after him. He could join Beckham, Ronaldinho, Barthez, Muller, Hurst, Pele, Puskas Fatty Fowlke on the wish list the owners there seem to have drawn up. Rumour has it when they first turned up at Blackburn they asked to meet Roy Race.

It's good that Chris Baird is staying, not some makeweight in a deal.

    Roll on Stoke!!!!!
