Don't think so - as far as i understand, a free agent can sign outside the window (happy to be corrected here) - would imagine he would prefer a team in the top flight, but considering the way the team is grinding out results, and the potential we are showing, he may eventually decide that we area better bet that a long drawn out relegation campaign in the PL
i dont really want him now. he had his chance he thought he would be better off else where. saying that if he does sign i hope he proves me wrong
Seems that an offer has been on the table for months but he seems to want to hang out until a PL club come in for him. The sort of attitude we can do without. He can do one as far as I'm bothered
We don't know the details of the offer. If its a one year contract (quite likely with the strategy re older players this summer) he may well think, as a 31 year old, a two or more year contract, possibly his last, elsewhere would be a better option. And I wouldn't blame him at all. Of course for many QPR fans it seems this means he's worse than Hitler and should be tortured then handed to a Brazilian football crowd for dismemberment.
I think hes a moron, hes losing 20k a week at the minimum so he could have signed on July 1st so hes lost 200k already. Hes not going to make that back with a better offer.
If he's this indecisive on the pitch, don't want him. If he's another arrogant primadonna like we had last season, don't want him
Fair point although I do think he's been given ample time to make a decision. He's been training with us now for God-knows how long and Redknapp has said they need an answer. I think he should decide now, one way or the other.
All we know is that he hasn't been officially announced yet. All sorts of scenarios could be playing out as we speak.
and he might have to look after Ronaldo tonight in the NI v Portugal game. Wouldn't fancy that after not having played for a few months!
Not really fair giving him stick as there could be a very good personal reasons for example that he hasn't put pin to paper and probably is not short of a bob or two, so why not take time especially as he knows there is no pressure from the transfer window. If he does sign it will be for all the right reasons and lets hope he is fully committed to the cause.
‏From the great twittersphere...... @Northolt_QPR @davidmcintyre76 Any Chris Baird news Dave? ‏@davidmcintyre76 @Northolt_QPR as far as I know he's signing this week @davidmcintyre76 @Northolt_QPR should add I don't know the bloke so if he has other plans I wouldn't necessarily know. But I think it'll go through.
We may not have been his first choice, but I'll be happy if this comes off, he can cover central defense and right back as necessary. And he's always struck me as a trier.
Can he play RB? I always thought of him as a LB. If he is coming in as right back cover then its a good move, but we have enough options at LB now imo. I would like to see us get a CB and ST on loan first though.
Listening to Fulham Traveller he can cover RB, but he's more comfortable at CB. Honestly, if Simpson gets injured and Baird doesn't sign, I can see us playing SWP at right back - that's how far Young seems to have fallen down the pecking order.
I think he can sign for a PL club, but won't be able to be registered to play unless the team has less than 25 players on books, squads have been registered already.
