A lot could happen in the next few weeks and who knows where he'll be at the end of it. For my money he's a good player and one we should be looking to keep. So it was interesting to see LJ singing his praises after he came on to shore up the defence yesterday. I hope he stays, a fit BW even to come off the bench is an asset to SAFC. Imo.
I agree id like him to stay. Itll be interesting to see how good Xhemajli really is. 6 CBs is alot so itll be interesting to see what happens. Loaning Younger out could be the best option i think. Im Flanagans biggest critic but hes played decent the last 2 games
Don't think we can rely too heavily on Xhemajli, been out far too long and it's hard to predict how he'll come back. Even if he gets fit that'll take until October at the earliest to be match fit and he'll be playing catch-up with the rest.
I know mate, i dont think we need to rely on him im just saying he's going to be available soon which will leave us with 6 CBs as it stands
It'll be nice to not have to rush him back - let him play u23 football until Xmas, maybe a Papa John run-out off the bench. Be like a new signing come January
I will be honest I am not a fan of his. I was never convinced in his first season. I think he gets too tight high up the pitch and gets turned as a result, or gives free kicks away. His distribution is average as well. I was also unhappy with his body language last season and thought when he needed to take reaponsibility he didnt. What I will say though is if the current coaches want him I expect to be proven wrong. They have shown good judgement in getting rid of players and keeping others and the new lads so far look the part. If Wright is a part of the plans I will be 100% behind him. Oh aye and my judgement is worthless anyway because I wanted Wyke to stay...
Why do you hope he goes? Think we have a lot of young inexperienced CB’s so even from a training perspective he could be good for them.
Because he’s past it. He can’t run, gets turned quickly and is nothing more than bang average on the ball. I have experience but I’m also past it. He isn’t good enough.
At 29 I don’t think he’s past it. I think he can be some of those things you said, but I also think he can be a solid CB who does his job, doesn’t try and over complicate things. I guess time will tell, but with a young back 4, I think he’d be useful to have around still.
I think he'll be alright, he was a bit off at the end of last season but I think he was rushed back from injury so I don't count that. If we've got the old Wright and he can take it on board that he's not Scholes and can't ping it about the pitch with laser accuracy he'll be a solid option.
Seems an Everton striker to be announced tomorrow, haven't heard of him This was ment for the summer transfer window
Keep Wright until the next transfer window and then re-evaluate . We are very inexperienced in defence and he was a calming influence when he came on yesterday.
I thought he loooked very good in his first season but was everything you say here last season (well, the “past it” is a little harsh considering he’s in his 20s still). I also don’t think he was anywhere near fit last season (Johnson alluded to that in his post match at the weekend). Says he’s back to full fitness and, if that’s true, he’ll be an asset. or, in shorter terms, I’m sitting on the fence!!!!
