Not looking too bad for his age then.

Yeah fair play, although after all these years you'd think he'd brush up on his English a little more, his interviews used to sound like a drunk toddler trying to gargle lego!

Hard to learn new things at his age though.

Aye, this whole rumour came about because some Sun reporter overheard him talking to his agent saying "I think I'll need to be in a baggy shirt next season"

Hope he signs, it'd mean about five wondergoals on MotD over the season.

Hopefully not against us though. We had bad form against ex-players.

I hope for their sake he has somehow improved. I always regarded him as average and never understood the fuss. Was good for a few screamers but incredibly lazy and his all round game was poor.

Its strange to think he was only 23/24 with us. Decent enough player but very inconsistent. Andy Gray summed him up when he said "Obafemi Martins is scorer of great goals rather than a great goal scorer" will never forget his screamer against spurs at the lane tho

I wouldn't call him average, anything but. Incredibly erratic but never average.

On his day he's unplayable, world class, a wonder to behold. Off his day I reckon even I could mark him out of a game.

I don't think I even saw him put in a 'decent' performance in black and white, always all or nothing.

We'll have to disagree as he just looked average all round to me bar the power in his boots. His touch, shooting were erratic at best. His passing and heading very poor. His awareness non existent and his work rate only for himself. On his day he was fantastic but those days were few and far between. The likes of him and Emre infuriated me with their attitudes. Emre was probably worse as he had any amount of unused ability.

Consistency, natural ability and class are three ways I'd judge a player. He lacked in all three and thats why I see him as average. I always felt his wonder goals papered over a lot of very average games for us.

Ahhhhh Emre, another player we signed with bags of potential who didnt really deliver on a consistent basis. We have had alot of them type of players over the years lol Luque for example!

Thing is with Emre he was really talented. Loads of class but a well known party boy. Hence he was never fit or driven enough to do himself justice. Bar that derby of course!
