Just a theory on what happened in my opinion
It appeared the club thought Bony was going to leave in the summer of 2014 so Jenkins signed Gomis on a free transfer with Gomis being guaranteed 8 million .
Bony never left , so Gomis was behind Bony in the pecking order .As Gomis grew weary of game time . He was told not to worry , we were going to try a two man system along the way ....something that never happened.
Bony leaves in the January window 2015 and Gomis takes the striker reins .
Plays pretty well and gets the lion share of starts . Once the season is over Gomis , imo , still isn't happy about not getting starts and being semi lied to while Bony was still here and wants to leave .
Gomis has a 7 million trigger clause if someone wants him ,works for him because he gets a windfall and we cover ourselves because he has collected 2 million in wages already , so along with the 7 million on the trigger clause his deal is covered .
Al Ahli want to sign him in late July and offer him 3.5 million in tax free wages , along with the 6 million left on his buy out , no wonder he is shaking everyones hand and ready to leave .
The deal falls through but I believe he still wanted to leave and collect his 6 million and make wages elsewhere
The season starts and Gomis is on fire scoring four goals for the first four undefeated games , then suddenly doesn't score for 12 games and has only 2 goals since the first four games ....WHY ?j
Because he was playing hard to try to lure a team to buy him those first four games of the season
After that fourth game from the beginning of the season when he was on fire , THE WINDOW SHUT.....and he lost interest to impress knowing he wasn't leaving and just picks up his cheques , while not being happy where he is

I am not so sure, just think he is no more than average at best, coupled with not wanting to be here and taking easy money, equals what we have been seeing on a pitch a sh1te striker.

Gomis in his last 4 seasons at Lyon scored 17 or 18 goals each season , after Bony left Gomis played 17 games and scored 8 goals then starts this season scoring 4 goals in 4 games .Thats pretty good lefty , but after the window closed he scored 2 goals in the next 18 goals .Once the window closed he was a different player ,who it appeared to me , didn't give a sh:t .

I never really saw this good striker, I know he scored a few goals, but just didn't see a 70.000 pound a week player. he did score a few goals but was in france playing for then, their top side and against a lot of poor opposition, was never excited by the signing I am more excited at the prospect of him leaving.

My intention was never to complement Gomis as being a great striker , only how poor he got when he didn't get his way .

I get that, It is just roof, I have never rated him from day one, I just believe he was here to have an easy payday and unfortunately the board obliged him.

You bet , he was doing a tap dance when he signed . It was a bad deal .Atleast if Ayew goes , under the same kinda deal , we'll make money while getting better performances before he goes from a guy of personal substance .

It's a theory, but one that carries some weight. Although it may be way off the mark too and TLF may be right. After all, the French League isn't the Prem. In all truth we'll never know.

All I do know is that he's not doing the business and bearing in mind the state we're in he has to go and we need to replace him with someone who can.

He was doing a lot more business with us before the window closed Sept 1 , than he did after Sept 1.....that's all I'm saying .And you clearly see after the window closed he wasn't even coming close to playing 100% , Very unprofessional imo.

From the time Bony left Jan 1 2015 till Sept 1 2015 ,when the window closed ..Gomis played 21 games and scored 12 goals . From the time that window closed till now, Gomis played 18 games and scored 2 goals .The reason is attitude without loyalty toward who pays you imo , unless someone can give a better reason , I'll believe he couldn't care less , just collecting his money .
