So it seems// INJURY UPDATE: Gus Poyet confirms Patrick van Aanholt requires a shoulder op - "he'll be out for two and a half to three months" #SAFC https://twitter.com/SunderlandAFC damn shame.
bugger, gotta be looking at a left back in january or bringing Robson through, would'nt mind the latter if he's all he's cracked up to be
It's rarely as simple as popping it back in. Muscle damage is sustained more often than not. Was expecting this
I did mine a year ago playing volleyball, was out for 8 months! Sure PVA will get slightly better care like!
Lucky ****er. With just cartilage damage, you can get by on injections to deal with the pain and get back quickly but it's the tendons that attach to it it's a different matter. Gutted for PVA, his game was coming on superbly.
Reminds me of one of the millions of Freddie Trueman stories. Fred once dislocated his shoulder, and the docs pushed it back in. Fred was rolling about in agony, complaining to the Matron. Matron says "Oh, shut up Fred, there's a woman in Maternity just had twins, and you're complaining about this." Fred replied : "Aye, but try pushing the buggers back in"! Get well soon, PVA.
He did well against pools like but not seen enough to possible comment. Would love to some of the younguns given the chance.
Fully agree with this, shame about PVA as he was starting to show what he can do after an initial slow start but he's young and should recover quickly. Must admit i was a bit dissappointed when i heard we were giving a trial to a 34 year old, but the lad has been solid in both performances for us and looks a class act.
We've been very lucky with that one, it's about time though considering how much bad luck we've had with injuries to defenders (or whether it isn't luck at all, maybe it's something to do with training). A mate of mine had his military career cut short by a dislocated shoulder, it could no longer support the force of even a standard SA-80. Sometimes they just never heal back properly so it's definitely better that you take your time repairing things like this to be certain.
Did the same playing rugby, took me 8 weeks before I could take the sling off then it was another 12 months of physio before I was semi normal again. Even now 15 years later my left arm is still weak and my shoulder comes out without too much effort. I have only played rugby a couple of times since. It can be a terrible injury.
