First time we've been outplayed all season. Doesn't help that we were against 13 men, mind While it might have been a bit unjustified in terms of how well we played, we could have come away from that game with a draw and maybe even a win. Jonathon Parr caught the ball on the line, should have been a straight red and a penalty. De Laet was fouled by Delaney in exactly the same circumstances as Whitbread fouled Brighton's winger on Tuesday. Kasper 'appeared' to be fouled for the first. Not quite sure on this one because it was a crowded penalty area. Nevermind though, beaten by the better side. Palace will beat a lot of teams this season. Their wingers are exceptional. Onwards, we're still second and we have still won 25 points from 13 games
Exactly, it was going to happen sooner or later. opefully we will bounce back in the next game as any team hoping to finish 1sr or 2nd cannot afford to be losing 2/3 4 games on the spin. hopefully that wont happen
Today we faced the unfortunate combination of our best players being out of sorts, quality opposition and a poor ref. Even then, we've lost by just the one goal. Obviously, this combination will not happen every week. Still lots to be optimistic about, but I'm a bit concerned that we've not scored more than once in a game since the international break. I would still like to see a striker come in, and Sclupp and/or Waggy to go out on loan and hone their skills with regular football.
I thought that De Laet played brilliantly and I was very impressed with Whitbread. We need to freshen things up though, we need a goalscorer so bad.
Agreed. De Laet was our major threat today. Thought we looked better once James came on as well, cos we were getting murdered at times in midfield. Kasper wasnt fouled - colided with one of our own. Looked a definite penalty though. Palace were easily the best team to come to the KP and deserved the 3 points. Decent turn out from them as well.
I'd go one further and say they were the best team we've played so far this season. I'd say they should finish top six, but I fear they will lose the likes of Zaha and Jedinak come Jan. A bigger club could do worst than sign Speroni too.
Anyone can have a bad day, as long as you don't lose every time you play badly then you'll be fine. I'm thankful that we didn't play our best but still picked up 3 points away from home.
True, but four defeats in 13 too. I think we need to improve this ratio if we're to get automatic. Forest, for instance, have only lost twice.
I'm still very confident about this season, I just think we haven't been at our best in the last three games. The problem stems from not being ruthless enough in attack, particularly from set pieces. Sixteen corners today and rarely looked a threat on any of them. I also think we need to be harder to beat when we're off form. Just one draw so far and four defeats - we'd be in a fantastic position if that were the other way round. Hopefully, we can get in a striker - on loan would do, but we need someone. I think Nige is wise enough to know this. But at the end of the day, there isn't a Leicester alive who wouldn't have taken our current league position - and we'll be partying in the streets if we're in this position after 46 games!
I've stayed away from not606 since the game because I'm a notorious mardy bastard when we lose - That said What a first 30 minutes from Palace - They dominated the game, leaving our normally better performers arguing amongst themselves over whose fault it was that Palace had penetrated our defence yet again. Absolute credit for a devastating performance by them BTW I can't give a verdict on the remaining 60 minutes, I was back in the Peel with the mardy's - I did say I was a notorious mardy bastard
The reason we are as high as we are is because we are being so different this year. We look better as a "team", are being more consistent and not having half a hundred weight of draws that we should be winning. Lets keep it up, best for players to have an "off day" (Pearsons words) against a very good team than go down to relegation fodder
How good did Zaha look though. He has improved massively this season and actually looks like he could do something. He has always looked a good player but this year he looks more sharp and dangerous
And on their first goal Kasper banged into Whitbread and Drinkwater I think. Had it been their players it would have been a foul so it rightfully stood. Their 2nd was just **** defending and clearly their player handballed it off the line. They did the same thing last week against Millwall and got caught that time
