Napoli have been charged with fixing a match in the 09/10 season and Silvio Berlusconi's been sentenced to four years in jail for fraud. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out. Is Seria A that bad or is this something that's more widespread, but the Italians are actually doing something about it and others are turning a blind eye?
A bad day for Italian football... ...Mario Balotelli will be representing them for at least another seven years.
And if the last Euro's was anything to go by, that's a bad thing, how? Under Prandelli, Balotelli even worked hard for the team. A novel concept for him.
Mad scramble for Cavani if they're found guilty then. I guess he'll end up at Chelsea but the Russian clubs and top Italian teams will be after him as well.
It's a good thing we know the corruption has only involved Napoli, AC Milan, Fiorentina, Juventus, Lazio, Reggina, Napoli, Juventus and Lazio (to name only the ones named in 2012 and found guilty in 2006 and 2012), and that the blatant and commonplace match fixing so characteristic of Italian football had absolutely nothing to do with the ref chalking off two perfectly good goals we scored against Lazio, ending the half early and refusing to send off a number of their players, no matter how thuggishly they intentionally injured our players. Otherwise I'd say it's an enormous, steaming crock of sh*t.
Cavani could come down with a tragic case of self respect...but is more likely to relish linking up with Hulk at Zenit.
Cavani is a goal machine, what does he have? 55 goals in 70 odd apps? in Italian football, thats some record! he only recently signed a long term contract with Napoli so even if he does leave, he will cost 30-40 million and expect wages to match the best players in the world so we can dream...only!
