We played well today and have created plenty of chances that would usually see a top team win the game. To dominate the way we did with the number of bad apples in the team I think was phenomenal...almost like playing with 8-9 men.

    The team today:

    Reina
    Kelly Carra Skrtel Enricky
    Spearing
    Henderson Adam
    Kuyt Suarez Downing

    Carroll

I've highlighted the problem areas for us so far this season, if we can bring in players to come in ahead of the ones in bold I think we have a great chance of finishing these games off.
Kelly had a mare today but you can still see the quality in the lad, Henderson is a different player when he plays centrally.

Downing is not providing, Adam is just plain awful and Carroll is not a major threat. We need someone to compliment Suarez who can actually stick the ball BETWEEN the sticks. So not all doom and gloom...the rest of our team is not actually that bad.

I am looking forward to the future. Hope we can still push on now and get some home wins now the pressure is off. <ok>

I don't think Downing was too bad but Adam was awful. His passing and corners were terrible.

Overall, good performance without Steven Gerrarrd who should not be starting games anymore.

We might as well start to bleed in Sterling now.

4th is near on impossible, so Europa is all we've got. As that's in the bag lets try something different.

If we don't buy a quality striker in the summer I'm gonna kill the neighbours cat.

Honestly, I thought this was a game where Maxi would have made an impact in the second half, coming on for Downing or Hendo. Kuyt and Suarez's link up was outstanding at times and Maxi fits in with that playstyle well. He also has a habbit of popping up at the right time against big teams.

People rate Adam because he has alot of assists...it's like they ignore all the crap play, positional errors and 9/10 hollywood passes which don't work out. Too wasteful for a top 4 team.

Spearing played fantastic, Skrtel also, Enrique kept Walcott quiet and Suarez and Kuyt worked tirelessly. Lots of positives, just the wrong result.

Always with the Sterling with you isn't it?

Have a row with misses - "I think if we played Sterling then we wouln't have a problem!"

    You're correct though of course.

What would have Sterling have done to help us win? We created the chances but we didn't finish. We need a clinical striker.

    Pound Sterling <ok>

No seriously, I've been watching the kid, he deserves a game. Especially when comparing him with some of our average players.

I agree. A few game towards the end of the season cannot hurt - our other strikers are no better!

I didn't say he would of influenced the game - I said, now 4th is near on impossible and we've got Europa in the bag, lets give him some game time.

I agree - I just said it in the other thread.

How many times have we seen Adam burst through this season, delay the pass, then get tackled/take a **** shot/let the move break down?

  15. However, when everyone is fit, Gerrard will play instead of Adam, Johnson instead of Kelly, Agger instead of Carra (and swap Agger and Skrtel around) and Lucas instead of Spearing. IMO, Bellamy should play ahead of Downing too. That gives us:

    Reina
    Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
    Lucas
    Henderson Gerrard
    Kuyt Suarez Bellamy

IMO, that side looks a lot better already. However, it would not solve the problem of yesterday, we need a goal poacher!

Not a bad options for bench left either: Doni, Kelly, Flanno, Robinson, Coates, Aurelio, Adam, Downing, Maxi, Shelvey (I know), Spearing and Carroll

One thing this highlights is our distinct lack of attacking options.
