A better option than Shecter turned out to be last year I'm sure (peace be with him) . He is 32, so he has got a few years in him still. Thing is, Galatasaray wants him sold. Bringing in Drogba, and having Wesley Sneider and Burak Yilmaz had made Elmander redundant. His price is down to £350.000, and he is a quality player, technically gifted, at the end of the day. He did score an impressive goal last time he was in the PL. Surely fits the bill as "another type of striker than we got already"
A scarecrow would have been a better option than Shecter. With Moore leaving we need backup striker(s). Not sure if this guy is the answer though.
I think the pricetag is what makes him a good target. Bar his age, I'm sure he is worth ten times that amount. Bolton payed £8.2 million for him in 2008. He wasn't exactly on fire in the PL, but he did have a hot streak where he put them in. He stepped up his game in Galatasaray, where he actually has a respectable goal/games ratio.
Always rated him, but I imagine his wages (as a backup player) might be a bit high...still if we can get him on a short-term contract definitely worth a punt.
