There's a good chance at least one former player will be returning to us for next season, and if that happens we might as well bring a few more back. At least they understand what the club is all about. I'd like to see us bring back Woodgate,Smith,Harte & Bowyer,in the following formation- ..........................................Kasper............................................... Connelly.......Kisnorbo.................Woodgate..............Harte......... ...........................Bowyer..............Smith........................................... ............Snodgrass.......Nunez............Gradel................................. .....................................Somma....................................................... Obviously Harte's a bit slow, but would be covered by Woodgate,Smith & Gradel,& his lack of pace would be more than made up with his free-kick,corner taking prowess. Woodgate could be signed on a pay as you play basis,& when not fit replaced by Lees or O'Brien, maybe get in Lichaj in for Connelly. Becchio to maybe start ahead of Somma & Nunez by McCormack or Howson but all in all not a bad side at all. The defence would be well protected & there'd still be plenty of attacking options. Also,it wouldn't cost the earth.
Couple of typos in there, couldn't see with the sun shining on my blackberry! Obviously that's meant to read Smith as DM alongside Bowyer.
Sorry but I just don't see it, not keen on any of these dinosaurs coming back to our club, least of all the scum Smith and Bowyer who screwed the club out of as much money as he could get his greedy hands on. Same's true of Harte and Woodgate, the latter of whom brought our name into disrepute and arguably contributed to our downfall, and the former of whom is coddled by the other defenders at Reading, doing very little other than scoring set pieces for them. Next season, I'd like to see Westwood Connolly - Kisnorbo/Higginbotham - Lees/O'Brien - Friend Cork - Koumas Snodgrass - Howson/Nunez - Gradel Becchio
I'd never want the racist thugs Woodgate and Bowyer back at the club. They are old and past their best. Wages would be too high anyway. As for Harte, I agree with Loiner, he's good with set pieces but not defending. I think Alan Smith would be a great signing. I don't care about the Man Utd thing, everyone has a different opinion, but we know he'd give 100% in every game. Also, he was one of Newcastle's key players when they won the Championship on 104 points. He'd add some bite to the midfield and would be a top signing. That being said, I'd rather Jack Cork, because he's younger and wages would be lower, he'd have sell on potential and would improve to Prem quality. Getting both of them would be better Westwood Lichaj - Kisnorbo - Lees - Friend Smith - Cork Snodgrass - Howson - Gradel Becchio Kilkenny and Johnson didn't protect the defence properly, which I think is one of the reasons we let so many goals in. With Smith and Cork we could have the defensive platform, who both have quality to play aswell, and Howson, Gradel, Snoddy could be free to attack. Rotate with Nunez, Aidy White, Lloyd Sam and McCormack.
