I don't want to be alarmist.. I was lucky enough to have a sneaky look at the new stadium build yesterday with access all over the new West stand. I have worked in the construction industry since leaving school but only on smaller and domestic sized contracts. But.. I will be absolutely amazed if its finished in 4 weeks time? I'm sure people are on it, but...
4 weeks, 6 days (so 5 weeks really) till we play Portsmouth for the first ramp up game. The stadium has to be handed over before this!
My cousin is working on it and says it won't be ready. Always ask him how it's getting on. They'll do what they did with the South Stand, get it ready somewhat so that we can sit in there and have access to toilets and refreshments and keep doing work on it throughout the season.
it is true to form..we had info flowing albeit slowly until they hit snags like ..it might not be finished ! so don't mention it!
and to rub salt into the wound, what will probably be our biggest gate of the season v Newcastle is at the start of the season so we may not be able to take full advantage.
The Stadium build is f****d - all the Polish construction workers have been sacked and sent home and the French contractor who employed them has been recalled to Paris.............
Maybe we could switch the big games to The Mem if the new stand isn't ready in time? Oh...forgot that the capacity at The Mem is not much more than the West Stand. Oh well..........
It will be open in time, we had this last year. Like Shiny says the insides might not look too special like the South Stand when that opened but the capacity will not be reduced. If it is then you can all call me a twat then
