Did Keane achieve that ONCE during his spell bar his first two games !? Pleased with this. Bring on our next game, thats better town !
Just to put things into perspective shall we! A lucky win against an ordinary Derby side woohoo that will make the rest of the Division stand up and take notice! I wont be hanging out the bunting just yet. I notice that some of our "rejects" got amongst the goals for other clubs yesterday. This policy of getting rid of best youngsters is really paying dividends!
Predictable positive post JWM!! We need wins after a terrible run, and it builds on a stunning performance against Burnley, I don't think we could ask for anymore considering!! We deserved to win the game and it was definitely a goal, so not lucky!!! It almost sounds like your dissapointed we won JWM?? Just who of those rejects who scored has Jewell got rid of??
Ronan Murray springs to mind but I guess he only scored for Swindon in League 2 yesterday. Jordan Rhodes is obviously the Keane mess up but this policy of ignoring youth talent has just been carried on through jewell's era as well. I just can't believe all this fannying around when it comes to the Cat 1 status youth academy. Clegg is a moron and if we don't go for the Cat 1 that will be the end of our club as we knew it simple as! A scrappy win against a team that has been on a run of form much similar to our terrible run doesn't stiffen the sinews or summon the blood. Mind you I suppose there are a lot of Town fans who are just happy to accept the garbage that is served up at Portman Road these days. Perhaps they might be the ones that don't actually pay for the privilege. After this season has finished I wont be renewing unless Clegg and Jewell are both shown the door first.
Indeed but Ronan Murray is still our player is he not. Whilst I would like to see him given more game time rather than someone like Ellington, I don't really know how good he is and it is probably better for his development currently that he is getting 1st team football somewhere else. Like I've said I will reserve my judgement on Jewell's attitude toward youth players for a later date. I think he knows when the right time to introduce someone to the first team will be. As for the Cat 1 status, I hope we do go for it, as it would make sense to especially with a wealthy owner, I think they are just waiting for the details to come out and also all meet to discuss it before committing to it. JWM no the win yesterday certainly isn't going to 'summon the blood', I don't think anyone is getting carried away, but it is certainly encouraging. I wish you would stop saying most town fans are happy to accept garbage, that is just a ridiculous thing to say, please don't say it again as it annoys the hell out of me and is just such a populist easy thing to say in an argument!!! Its certainly hard to be an ITFC supporter atm but lets face it we haven't been any good for a while now and have been on a pretty rocky road since ME took over, at the end of last season the club was in an absolute mess, so suddenly expecting us to be up there challenging for promotion or playing great football after 3 years of boring terrible football is not to be expected. We all ask to see progression but sometimes we have to wait to see this, perhaps we have to take a few steps back to go forward.
Back to back wins is indeed nice! But things still ain't rosy.... With colins gone and andrews leaving soon the quality of our squad will be tested, hopefully pj can get them back in jan along with either Billy Clark or dare I say it Rhodes! (even with the loss we'd make i'd love to see him back). A couple of wins does not make up for the seven defeats and I'm still looking down rather than up. However at least it gives us a bit of momentum going into the xmas fixtures.
wins are wins. When all is said and done then its 3 points in the bags and a clean sheet. I dont think we deserved to win. ALB made two really good saves in the first half and a draw would have probably been fair. I have no idea is the goal was a goal but it counts and all clubs need a bit of luck during the season. It wasnt a 'wow' game, in fact it was a pretty ordinary game but we managed to cut out costly mistakes, we didnt do anything stupid and looked more like a team, albeit a very average one.
I'm definately not going to moan about any type of win, let alone a clean sheet to go with it. It doesn't change what has happened but hopefully it will give the lads a bit of confidence in themselves (ALB springs to mind) to push on and have a good christmas period!
I'm not saying 2 wins and everythings rosy, but jesus christ, what would you prefer, 2 more losses making it 9 losses on the bounce ? We kept a clean sheet, apparently ALB played rather well, and we won. With confidence as low as it is, we're hardly going to be Barcelona playing free flowing football are we... I'd imagine a lot of the players, after 7 losses would have very little confidence, especially at home. Well done for breaking the sequence. However, there is no way we should have 0 points from the 21. Its our poor menality, an area we haven't been strong since 04-05. Regarding Rhodes. I think Keane had a choice of which out of the two to develop, him or Wickham. We could hardly go into a season with two young lads of part of our strikeforce, sadly that doesn't happen in football. You choose one or the other generally, unless your a big club. Huddersfield came in with an offer, and the lad wanted to move to further his career. After loan spells and not making his mark, or really being given the opportunity to do he went. At least we have a sell on clause. I'm not overly happy with him going, but the above reasons are why I believe this happened. I'm pleased Jewell at least won the last two, at least we're not a complete mire. Its bad enough this season, certainly though. I'm very disappointed with how we've performed so far. I really did think we could do alright, certainly top 10 this time around at worst. Jewell has a big job to do from now until the end of the season. We CAN STILL achieve our aim this season, but its sadly looking uncreasingly unlikely. I'll be interested to see our transfer activity in January. I really hope Leadbitter goes. Funny he wasn't playing in the last two games........... I have a funny feeling a premiership side may make an offer for Josh Carson. To my mind, he's not tied up on a new deal yet which we really could regret.
January is going to be a big month for the Club as a whole, A big month for Jewell to identify talent, big month for Clegg to sign that talent and a big month for ME to show that he really is in it for the long haul. If any one of those 3 don't do their job to 100% then we are screwed!
You see although we need to strenghten in January, the january transfer window IMO is not the time to do the bulk of transfer deals as players are hard to sign midseason and also their prices are often overinflated. I have to say I'm predicting many arguments about the lack of transfer activity at ITFC on here!!! As for the rhodes argument, I don't buy that argument I'm sorry to say Westlake, we could have developed both, especially as we were really light of strikers at the time.
If we lose Carson Jan then the Ipswich way of developing youngsters is gone. However I think PJ is handling his development well in giving him game time and not relying on him. Hopefully we can get him signed up to a long contract. As for Rhodes I don't buy this him or Wickham thing, it was just a terrible bit of buisness by Keane. He would have been on small wages so we could have signed him up for a few years and sent him out on loan if it's true we didn't have space for him in out team....
exactly clapham, completely agree!! Was just a standard piece of Keane s**t business, the first in a long line!!
