Not only was Saturday a new club record 7th consecutive League victory, it was also the third 3-1 win in a row. Does this sequence mean we have returned to our favourite scoreline again and can look forward to many more of them? Last season we only managed five 3-1 league wins (Notts County, Dag & Red, Bournemouth, Plymouth, and Walsall), whereas the season before we racked up seven (including another sequence of 3). These were against Southend, Oldham, MK Dons, Hartlepool, Walsall, Exeter, and Southend again. Sorry to bore you all with statistics but it's a slow day at work!
Yes, on balance I would rather have the clean sheets but I remember when we got those three in a row back in October 2010 (having beaten Gillingham 4-1 at the start of the month) clean sheets weren't something we were very capable of. Nigel has certainly changed all that.
I'm perfectly happy with 3-1 score lines. It means Saints let in 46 goals in a season - a bit more generous than we have been, but we score 138 goals for ourselves, over the same period. Bring on the 3-1s, I say. Oh, and the Championship trophy and a unbeatable record haul of 138 points to go with it..! Well, I can dream, can't I..?
