    Hey fellow Yids....

Just back from my hols and to be honest, I was a bit cut off from football news and all things Tottenham. Of course, I saw the disappointing scoreline against Newcastle and couldn't help thinking that it wasn't the ideal start we wanted under AVB. What concerns me more is I return to read several reports of AVB's apparent deconstruction of our squad that appears to be occurring with little in the way of quality coming in. In short, it seems we are about to lose or have already lost:

    1. Huddlestone
    2. Dawson
    3. Van der Vaart
    4. Modric

I may have missed one or two but the one that stood out for me was Dawson. After the dreadful display of defending by Gallas against Chelsea last season, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him in the starting line up this past weekend, let alone still even wearing a Spurs shirt so to see our club captain allowed to leave seems nuts to me. Is this really true or just paper talk?

We now have Adebayor as a player contracted to the club but I am in no way convinced he's what we are looking for as a final product up top yet AVB seems to be content with just two senior strikers and claims no further strikers will be signed. Has the world gone mad?

Be good to get a general opinion on our Newcastle performance and what folks feel about our present squad and where it's headed. I'm worried for my beloved Spurs.

Hudds is only on loan,Daws say he's staying and fighting for his place,we were alway's going to lose Modric, and VDV nothing is certain on that,o.k. we did'nt win at Newcastle, but we played well,i have a feeling,we will do alright this Season

    Welcome back, Fla.
Looks like Dawson might actually stay, after all.
Apparently he talked with Villas-Boas and we agreed to listen to offers for him, as we had a lot of centre-halves.
I think the player wanted to see if he could get more game time elsewhere, but we're happy to keep him, if he wants to stay.

I'm perfectly happy with Adebayor as our first choice striker, but feel that we need another option.
Defoe can't play as a lone striker effectively, in my opinion.

    View of the Newcastle game?
Played pretty well overall, largely dominating the first half in particular, but didn't create that many chances and failed to take those that we did.
Gave away two sloppy goals, though Ba's finish was excellent and I don't remember Friedel making a save, to be honest.

Glad to hear Daws could be staying. He's a good lad, been very loyal to us and I believe still has his best years ahead of him even at 28. I'm convinced we need another top class player up top too... Ade and Defoe is way too thin on options. Be sad to see VDV go if he does... he may not be the quickest but when he's in the mood and in form, he's in another class.

I guess we need a good win against WBA at the weekend to lift my mood. After their great start against the Scousers, do we have a good chance?

It'll be interesting. I wouldn't be surprised by a 3-2 score. Our defense looks unsettled as we get reorganized, but our lineup should be good for goals. We were unlucky not to score two or three last week. I'm expecting us to both score and give up more, other things being equal, since we're pressing more. Hitting on the counter meant we tended to have more players back and able to help out the defenders.

  7. The biggest news, however, is that Spurlock learned how to speak out of his arse, at Clown School (according to a mod from the Gooners' board).

Clown-based arse-ventriloquism is quite a skill. I know that for a fact, because I tried to learn regular ventriloquism and that was hard enough. There's a book for beginners, called "Ventriloquism For Dummies" which I can heartily recommend.

what it was, nothing reported but the rumour went around that to get mounthino(spelling?),we would have to sell someone else as well as Modric, hence VDV,who does'nt want to go,because he like's ot at Spurs, but would be willing, probably because his wife works in Germany

Don't think so. Essentially Arnesen gave the press a few quotes about him wanting VDV and after he was left out of the Newcastle starting line up the press jumped on it. It was no more than him throwing a fishing line out there hoping VDV get unsettled, in my opinion.

  20. Huh?

I think you've got the wrong end of the humour stick, pal. You need to read the latter end of the "Rivals" thread to understand to what I am referring.

I'm taking the piss out of a certain Gooner mod for some abuse he was throwing at one of us.
