With plenty of activity over the last few days and more players still being linked, who will be the back 4 (if it is 4!!) that we'll start with?? Super Kev has to be nailed on, possibly Taylor but........??? Thoughts please
Hudson has to be given first chance based on last years form with Gerrard next to him I reckon. Super Kev and Taylor as well...Quinn and Dekel just miss out for now.
I'd go with Kev at RB, taylor at LB and Dekel and Gerrard in the CB slots. Hudson, although improved last season, still does'nt do it for me. Kenian, although gave away a silly pen in the playoff against reading, offers more height/ heading ability at the back and gives us another option from corners / free-kicks.
If Gerrard is as fat as when he returned for pre-season training last year, he should be made to sit it out. Maybe if DJ had had a bit more patience with him, he'd have done just that and not made him player of the season at Hull. After his efforts the last half of last season, I would start K9 alongside Hudson if there is any doubt about Gerrard. The wing backs have got to be MacNuggs and Taylor (oops - I nearly put an N in there instead of a T )
Gerrards looking a lot leaner these days (CCFC Player). I was worried that with him, Chopra and Parkin, I'd have to get a wider Wide Screen TV
Photos on Facebook yesterday seem to look like he's back to his slimmer self - no Clarksies in Hull !!
Can't see that Xsnaggs. He doesn't have the ball skills and athleticism needed in that position. It will be great to have him back competing for the cb slot though. Darcy definitley doesn't have the ball skills, passing is the major weakness in his game. In today's game the holding mf also needs to be able to create and support the attack - a bit like Darcy did from left back at the Liberty - doh!!!!
Passing can be worked on, Darcy's still young and I would'nt have a problem him starting the season there. IMO the key for a holding midfielder in posession is the midfield players around him giving him passing options, as long as he has good positioning, is strong in the tackle and can put himself about, qualities which Darcy has, it can work with him in the midfield.
I'm a bit of a fan of Darcy, don't think he's had a proper run in the team as yet his problem is that he seems to be a jack of all trades but a master of none.
Agreed Rhondda - he's not exactly the model professional to be sure, but he could do a good job given the chance. He needs to take it if offered though, instead of boozing.
Depending on if we sign any other players, Taylor may be deployed in midfield. Either: Mcnaughton, Hudson, Gerrard, Taylor or: Quinn, Hudson, Gerrard, Mcnaughton
That wouldn't work Pagey. It looks suspiciously like a Plan A AND Plan B and we don't do that....do we?
I think there is a taxi on permanent hold at CCS to take Nayls away as soon as someone makes any sort of offer for him - 2 jellytots and an opal fruit will do and we will pay the taxi fare!!!
