Fine words from Demba about our future captain.

This got me thinking.... who do you think is our best player?

PS- Cabs you sexy mofo xxxx

Demba Ba has revealed his belief former Newcastle team-mate Yohan Cabaye is the best player he has played with in his football career.

The Senegal international spent just over 18 months with the Tyneside club, scoring 29 goals before moving to Stamford Bridge last month.

However, despite electing to leave St James' Park, the 27-year-old reserved praise for Frenchman Cabaye, who he faced off against last weekend in Chelsea's 3-2 defeat to the Magpies.

He told Soccer Bible: "The best I've played with? I would go for my friend (Yohan) Cabaye."

The Paris-born striker has become one of the bigger names in the Premier League in recent years, and he admitted the adulation he receives from his fans is often difficult to comprehend.

He added: "When I see the passion of the kids, when you say hello to them and they just go crazy, it's something I didn't expect."

Still, Ba said he is happy to receive compliments and feels that the praise helps him develop as a player.

"When you play good and people say that you have been terrific and you have been playing good football, that's something that stays and builds you and your confidence," he said.

Part two is the '****test player' you have played with... featuring Willo, Shola and Ranger.

Rates Cabaye above the likes of Mata. I concur with Demba.

Cabaye is going from strength to strength, seems to have his head screwed on, a little impulsive at times, but it's just passion..;)

Definitely a prime candidate to be our next captain. <ok>

This. Would love him to finish his career with us but unlikely. Real Madrid or Barcelona waiting in the wings.

I could see them trying maybe.
It would cost a fair wedge though.
What would it realistically take? £20m.. More?

Cabaye maintains his current form and he could be reaching a whole new level. Has been fantastic since returning, and the midfield performance he gave against Chelsea is probably one of the most complete midfield performances I have ever witnessed by someone in the shirt.

Modric went to Real Madrid for £33m; So Cabaye has to be worth at least £25m, right?

Absolutely right, trouble is a 25/30 million price tag is not enough to put some clubs off, mores the pity. Just watch the rumor mill go into overdrive come the summer.
