FOOTBALL fans were in shock today when an American-owned website mistakenly announced that Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi had died.

Fox Sports posted a message on their Latin American Twitter site declaring that the 24-year-old has suffered a 'cardiopulmonary arrest' during training.

"We announce the sad news that Lionel Messi died of cardiopulmonary arrest during training," read the message when translated from Spanish to English.

A 'hashtag' stating "#RIP Messi" was also included with the post.

 

Let's hope Pardew can get him to stay when they sit down tomorrow.

Of course lots of teams have talked with Ba's agents but I doubt the club has had an offer or any clubs have spoken with Ba himself.

 

We took a chance on him when no-one else would touch him. If he has no sense of loyalty towards us, he can fec off with my blessing! (As long as we get De Jong)

 

We'll see. His late developing profile would mean my faith in him staying is somewhat tempered. He has to realise his ambitions and make his money in a much smaller timeframe. He knows the fans love him here but he has a lot of factors to consider professionally.

Am I the only one who believes he will stay, seems strange on Friday that all the talk was how he was holding talks about a new contract with Pardew and now he can't wait to play in Istanbul.

 

Not a reliable source at all. Comes from Turkishfootball - who also went with the story he'd signed for Galatasaray - who rightly pointed out he'd been in Turkey recently, but then added that it was for talks with the two Istanbul clubs, which isn't necessarily the case as in fact he was there as part of his trip to Mecca.

 

I don't see why he would want to go to turkey, not exactly a prestigious league is it?

It does seem strange he'd help sign Cisse, look like he's enjoying his football, then feck off to Turkey...

The biggest surprise to me would be him not moving up the Premier League to a top club, to be honest, nevermind moving to a league of less reputation. But yeah, seems reasonable to me he was just there on route to Mecca, and I'd rather wait to see than jump on Demba for not being loyal.

 

well the fact that you guys are going for luuk de jong may indicate the story to be true. In any case i think de jong will be a better acquisition hopefully without any injury problems and has more to his game. De buchy and de jong look to be good acquistions though all ive seen of them is from youtube. In any case you wouldn't want someone with no sense of loyalty. Best of luck next season just don't scare us too much!

 

I get a little suspicious of newspaper reports that are just two paragraphs long ..... It's like, I don't know, did they perhaps have a little bit of blank space and nothing to fill it?
