B U M P drafting....it's when ..one, plus one, equals MORE that 2 ...! Have YOU ever seen the drafting in USA's NASCAR.. whereby the cars are ...... nose- to- tail , usually, at over 175mph (225 kph), ** AND it usually takes just a gentle nudge to get the "field" danc'n....! Now don't get your shorts in a knot, hear me out......it's an opinion... In Nascar, two cars practically, ( and very well possibly) are touching , nose to tail, and CAN , and DO go faster than an individual car or string of cars,.... IT'S the air flow, a reduction in the coefficient of DRAG ... ***In Formula ONE,... just imagine...for a moment( don't wanna get the steam pouring out of your orifices) BUMPERS. in the*** rear bumper,.... horizontal,... positioned EVEN with the furthest rear plane of the tires & at a height equal to the axil,,,AND only one quarter meter (10") long,... AND ***Front bumper, a half a meter(18") long, located in line, one foot forward of the front ( foreward ) most portion of the tire...and the same height as the axil... ADD to all this ,**** .."Nerf bars*** between the front & rear wheels, even with the outside face of the tire, two feet long.... AND all body wings & fins shall be centered, and no more than two & a half feet wide.AND no higher than the driver's shoulders. **** NOW with some accurate..(persuasion) on the aggressor's part there shall be NO END to the passing in FORMULA 1.. *** . Also reduce the size of the tires to slow the cars down,.. comparatively easy & cheep... proceedure for all, and raise the car height to reduce off course transgression damage, and NAME it .....................the SHue Horn maneuver............................
These are open wheeled racing cars, no way would it go ahead, and it would take to much time effort a money to pull off. The only F1 car that you have described is the road car............which has so many problems it's unreal, one of which burnt BTCC driver and reigning champion Jason Plato. Making the tires smaller is against everything that's going ahead in 2013-bring back the cars from the 80's essentially. Really your proposing front wings as high as the front wheels (aero would be gone, lose a lot of speed from that) and something covering the rear wheels instead of a rear wing. This would not work as well as it does on 'normal' cars as diffusers work much differently. And changes aerodynamically are to definitely change in 2013 drastically, so this wouldn't be considered, it would in fact ruin the sport entirely and slow the cars down massively. I can't help but think that compared to F1, NASCAR is 'woosy' as Brundle would say, besides, you have Juan Pablo Montoya and we all know what a failure he was.....
Don't worry, I struggled too! On topic, the problem with the suggestion is that it takes a lot of the value and skill out of overtaking. Its a fine line, but we don't want too much overtaking, as then it doesn't take any skill from the driver, and would also render qualifying pretty meaningless, but equally we don't want a situation where, bar mistakes and mechanical problems, the drivers finish in their quali positions. The suggestion made by proflagger takes a lot of the driver skill away, and because drafting is faster, team tactics, possibly even between teams, could develop, which ruins the competition. Lets not give up on this years alterations yet, even if Bernie is planning new, ridiculous manners in which to ruin the sport, and also see what the 2013 regulations bring. As F1mclaren927 said, the alterations to the look and feel of the cars would be huge, and few of the teams would have the budget to do it, as it would involve throwing away all previous work, and all previous knowledge to start over again.
Total Rubbish. That's presuming it was a serious thread in the first place. NASCAR is totally different to F1,one is stock car racing, the other is the pinnacle of open wheel racing. For the record,I do enjoy NASCAR,it's crude,it's basic, but it does provide crazy V8 powered fun, bump drafting at 190mph makes a great spectacle, not to mention the inevitable pile ups ! F1 with nerf bars though ............. PS Don't the F1 pilots use drafting now ?.....
