You've got to hand it to everyone at the club - we are streets ahead in our thinking, planning and preparation for the new season. The long running saga with the manager, the lack of action in the transfer market as a result, racisim claims in court, the debacle with the training ground - surely this level of mismanagment can't all be through incompetence? I actualy think the Gills 'think tank' have gone away and carefully studied Italy's preparation for major tournaments over the past few years and decided that a chaotic, almost farcical build up gets results. Not sure who will being the Prlo role yet though..... In all seriousness though, the last time we had a summer quite as messy as this was the summer when Paul Scally took over, appointed Sir Tony of Pulis who built a team out of nothing and won promotion. Not all doom and gloom whatever the next few days hold.
Added to this, I seem to recall Sir Peter of Taylor being appointed a day before pre-season kicked off the following year, well we all know how that turned out.
Can't particulary see myself turning round in 10 years or so and saying 'remember when we appointed Sir Martin of Allen' more rather 'wow he was crap wasn't he....still I'm looking forward to Hessenthaler's 12th go at being boss....dont worry it won't be like last time'
If we all had your powers of perception then the world will be a much simpler place.... So many people jumping on his back already because of his previous records. Ludicrous. Pardew faced the same sort of criticism when he was being linked with the Newcastle job...
