http://www.metronews.ca/winnipeg/sp...jax-cup-match-halted-after-fan-attacks-player This happens too often. What are the bloody stewards doing to protect the players. Aren't they there to stop pitch invaders?
Not great footage, but you get the general idea: Arsehole tried to attack him from behind, so he deserved everything that he got.
Used to be one when I was a student. The guys you get standing/sitting around the pitch are there to make a presence and are not trained to tackle invaders. If someone gets on to the pitch they have to stay put and make sure no one else tries to do the same otherwise you may have a pitch invasion on your hands. There could be better counter measures to stop it in the first place though.
the refs are idiots sending players off,for Tackling pitch invaders, what are they suppost to do stand there and let someone take a swing at them,or worse still stab them?
to the keeper. The ref should be ashamed, it's a natural instinct to defend yourself if attacked, his kicks to the bloke on the ground were hardly vicious, probably more of a case of trying to ensure he stays on the ground for enough time to allow the stewards to get off their fat arses and do something the jobsworths! I hope the Dutch FA revoke his red card.
As the above video has been taken down: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/sp...arado-sent-off-for-kicking-pitch-invader.html Not sure the keeper needed to put the boot in. Twice. Still funny though.
refs royally **** most things of importance up.....i would have kicked him a few more times since i was getting sent off anyway
Once I saw an ice hockey referee (former player) check a rink invader so hard he went absolutely flying into the boards. Finest piece of work I've ever seen by an official. As far as I'm concerned, any pitch invader deserves whatever he gets, since they clearly need discouraging. Looked to me like he tried to kick the GK, so I see him as being within his rights to kick him a couple of times after he went down. Think about how incensed you'd be if someone attacked you for no reason in the middle of a game. That level of response wasn't unreasonable.
I'll give credit to the pitch invader, the way he used his legs to block the kicks was some good MMA ground work...
Sure has, and the Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbalbond (Dutch FA) are considering whether to play the game again or award a home win (Ajax were 1-0 up when the game was abandoned)
If the fan was an Ajax fan then award the match to Twente, but if it was just a moronic idiot trying to be stupid replay the game.
They have to replay it, otherwise hooligans will consider it as an option if their team is ahead but under pressure. I would have considered taking JT out before our defence went awol yeasterday!
