Reckons he's too good for us now? Maybe paper talk? 15 goals in 70 games is no great feat, but I'd rather keep him for his potential. £15m I'd snap someone's hands off. http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/2/833288080?-11058:809:0
Perez can consider his position as much as he wants, but, if Rafa is true to his word, Perez wont be going anywhere unless he (Rafa) sanctions it. The way transfer fees could go this summer, I wouldn't sell for £15m.
I actually think Perez has more potential, than Mitrovic. He's got good pace and movement, I think he's going to develop into a very good player...
Agree in theory but he is 22 (i think) and i am a tad concerned that his potential needs to be showing a touch more than it is pretty soon! He was a revelation at the age of 20 when thrown in to the team, is he better now than he was then? I'm not convinced he is. There's not many players i can think of in the past decade i can actually recall us improving...
Perez needs to push on quick, we've had it many a time where players show great promise and dont live upto it. Would be a shame if it was to happen to someone as talented as perez. Im guessing he will be 27-28 before we know it and still only scoring a small handfull of goals, but i hope im wrong
It's harsh to judge him on his goal ratio, he's always been about much more that than, his skills, his pace, creating space and chances for others, etc. He had an excellent first season and was one of our few decent players this season. I think this dissatisfaction he seems to have may come from the fact Rafa was benching him for most of the end of the season and playing Cisse; Perez (justifiably) probably feels he's deserving of a starting place and isn't enamoured at the prospect of being on the bench in the championship.
Agree we shouldn't just judge him on goals and that he had a very good first season but he definitely underperformed for most of last season and was one of the many disappointments for me last season.
He gets stuck in and has a goal in him obviously one for the future He will only go elsewhere and win things in my opinion
Looks like the regurgitation of an ancient story. I'd keep him for the Championship which is about the right level for him at the moment. He struggled badly last year and flattered to deceive. He has potential but if someone wants to offer 15m I can see why the club would be tempted. All in all I'd like to see him stay and develop alongside Mitrovic in the Championship where I think they could form a potent strikeforce. There is no excuses or getting away from it though, he was one of many to not deliver last year. All the actual quotes from him since our relegation suggest he will stay. I think it will really depend on the club and the offers they get. It may be Rafa thinks he can bring in useful money to use to get ready for the Championship, in which case he could go. He might get an offer he feels he has to take. Hopefully we'll retain and I think he'll do well at a level more suited to him presently.
I feel for Perez - just look at what happened to Jonas when he had to carry Jose Enrique for a couple of seasons! He needs a rest!
If a player wants to leave, it doesn't matter who is in charge, due to the sort of monies involved, clubs get rid. Clubs cant afford to keep unhappy team members.
Depends on the player really. There have been players who have caused problems because they have been denied a move and there have been players who have knuckled down and done their job. I doubt we'd have too much bother from Perez if he was told he wasn't getting a transfer.
Perez isn't a left winger or inside left or whatever the feck you call it. I called for him to be played up top towards the end, but when he played LM he gave it away too often and positionally he struggled at times. I agree that he's at the right level and needs to play central. I'd sooner see Aarons LM depending who stays/who we sign.
He really should be in the box more for me. He is a worker and because of that and the lack of quality of our squad he was deemed useful out wide. Let him press from the front and be first in the box when we have the ball. He is quick to react and can improvise in tight situations.
Jesus wept, history gets rewritten at times. Perez played a lot of games up front - very poorly. Yeah he got used wide a bit but he had plenty of opportunity in his favoured role and just didn't deliver. It never ceases to amaze me how some likeable players are just excused. Same with HBA, plays ****e but fan favourite, must be someone else's fault. Managers are the same mind - sissoko plays ****e gets made captain. These guys just haven't delivered. The old out of position excuse just doesn't stack up for Perez, I sat and watched him fanny about up front and trip over the ball. They all need to get their mojo back at a lower level and start doing what they are capable of and delivering when it matters
100% this. I like Perez, there have been times he's looked great but the difference between many champions league players and championship players is consistency.
