http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892...e-over-real-madrid-and-barcelona?ICID=HP_BN_3 Newcastle striker Ayoze Perez claims Real Madrid and Barcelona were interested in him before he swapped Tenerife for Tyneside. The 21-year-old arrived at St James' Park from the Spanish second-tier outfit during the summer and scored the winner in his side's 2-1 Premier League victory at Tottenham on Sunday. And Ayoze says he attracted the attentions of the two biggest clubs in his homeland before opting to make the move to England. "Yes, there was interest from those clubs [Barcelona and Real Madrid],â he said. "The truth is that the Newcastle bid was quite surprising because firstly there were other teams interested. "But they pushed very hard to get me. I feel they really valued me. We had to consider the different options and I finally decided to come to Newcastle. "I have always loved the Premier League but the main reason to come here was how Newcastle valued myself. "I felt very appreciated by the club and that was the reason which made me opt to come here." Sunday's victory at White Hart Lane lifted Alan Pardew's side up to 14th in the Premier League. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Move to 2 of the biggest teams in the world where there is a real chance of glory, becoming a legend and trophies OR a premier league team in the north east who havent won anything for 50 years i think it is? Aye, simple choice that like
I don't find it too hard to believe to be honest, the two Spanish teams have a history of hoovering up youth and ruining their careers. That kid's not good enough to be pushing for a start in either side, probably never will be, yet Newcastle will be offering him similar cash. One good year in the prem and he could sign for Liverpool for £35m and be on £100k a week, he'd be silly to choose RM or Barca.
