The galling thing for Liverpool is they could have Ayew for nothing and he was prepared to play for nothing then get his bumper pay package in January. Now it will be a lot more money to get him.

The reality is that if Liverpool come knocking,he will be gone.
The only question is for how much, and that would depend on the terms of his contract, where presumably there lurks a buy out clause.
Considering that he joined on "a free", the buy out clause is likely to be on the low side.
Two and a half months until the next window. A lot can happen before then.

Will he though , I thought that you can't play for another club in your first season but I could be wrong .even so if we are paying him around 16 million then a buyout clause I would imagine would be set a lot higher and he is on a 4 year contract so it'll be big money what ever happens

He may go at the end of the season but not before due to the 2 club rule in a season. If we don't start performing then Ayew will be as good as gone as he deserves with his skill a club better than us....If we get back to playing like we know we can then anything can happen and we will have a better chance of keeping not just Ayew but a few others also and god forbid if we should get relegated we will be lucky to keep any of our key players.....Monk has a lot of work to do and it's the first time he has really been under pressure so we will have to see how he does. I still have confidence in his ability so lets hope he proves me right and we start climbing the table with winning games and not going the other way like we have been.....

Not sure about the "first season" query.

How does what we pay him affect his possible transfer fee? I don't understand that. If he goes, then we no longer pay him a salary. He could well have a buy out fee as low as £7-£8 million,i.e.,covering his signing on fee. Since he was a freebie, his Agent would have played hard ball.
This is only conjecture on my part,of course, but the Club are rarely in the driving seat nowadays.

I've heard about the first season clause too. Tbh I think he'll move on to a CL club next season and we will get a very goid fee for him. So he won't end up at Liverpool :)

I'm not sure about second club either ,maybe it's an urban myth .I can't imagine the Club paying out a ridiculous amount in wages without considering the fact that he won't be with us long , the comments when he signed indicated he was using us as a stepping stone ( as have many others) so why set his buy out clause set as low as you think it could be when the Board seem to have mastered the art of negotiations when it comes to these sorts of issues .As you say it's all conjecture so enjoy him while we have him ,then spend the money wisely

Ayew has an Agent, who has his clients best interests at heart, and not those of The Swans'.
Each transfer negotiation is unique, and would be influenced by the circumstances surrounding the availablity/desire to sign the player, etc.
Since Ayew was a freebie, and the Club were keen to sign him,the "art of negotiations",such as they exist, may not even have come into play.
A sharp Agent, and most would seem to be,would call the shots on this one, viz,"you want him,you are getting him on the cheap, but there is a catch,we set a low buy out clause". Jenkins' negotiating skills would be superfluous to requirements under such circumstances.
Since none of us are privy to the actual contractual conditions pertaining to Ayew's transfer,it's all moot, and mere conjecture.
The more ardent Swans' followers would like to think, nay demand, that the Club call all the shots,on all contract negotiations, but in reality, they probably don't.
Such is the nature of the game in the present climate.
Gone are the days when a player would need permission to sneeze.

Currently under the FIFA Transfer Regulations a football player is unable to play for more than three teams in one season. This applies whether the player has been transferred or simply is on loan with that club.

This also applies regardless of what country that player has plied his trade in, whether that is in Europe, Africa or South America. As long as a player has represented a club in a league under the adjudication of a FIFA Member Association they will only be able to play for three different clubs.

However, this does mean that a football player is free to represent a total of three different clubs in any league in the world over the course of one season.

    Good post Vetch!

I do wonder if, like Gomis, we have effectively agreed to pay a "transfer fee" in the shape of a "signing-on fee" to Ayew? If we have agreed to pay him say £8m over the course of his contract, then that could give us the ability to set a higher release clause.

Just a thought - but as you say, "mere conjecture" on our part!<cheers>

    Your usual nonsensical horseshit.

He's only played for us in the 2015-2016 season therefore he can sign for whomever he ****ing likes....when he likes,

Hopefully any buy out clause will give us some profit in the millions.

So now we are relegation candidates are we Dai?
How long before you're calling for Monk's head <laugh>

    You beat me to it,Terror.

Now if I had posted the possibility of relegation under Monk, the Monkeynuts would have gone apoplectic with rage.
One would have asked if I was "bored". Another would spend hours creating his response, and come up with " oh gawd".
I would be accused of "Monk bashing",for the umpteenth time.
Our heroic mods would have gone into overdrive with multiple warnings, banning orders, and the like, coming into play.

Dai raises the possibility, and it's "All quiet on the Western front". Quite Remarqueable.

But it's all gone quiet over there.
Not so much talk about who "the best manager in the P.L." is.
"Liverpool want Monk to replace Rodgers" was a classic, especially when his name never came up when the vacancy arose.
It's moments like this that keep me wanting to get up in the morning.

I doubt the club will let him go in the January Window, as he is pretty much our only goal threat at the minute, Gomis has dropped off form a tad, hope he picks it up soon, as we need to start banging in goals ASAP..............<ok>

PS: We need another striker to push Gomis, Eder is not doing it for me, though still early days.

I just love these win win " Problems" we fall into all the time .If we lose Ayew , and get some nice healthy money for him , good , we have Routledge and money to get others . if Ayew stays , great . In situations like this I think we should go directly to Ayew and ask him what he wants to do , makes us look good to other top quality players that might come our way ,with them knowing we somewhat have their back and us knowing we have our own backs no matter the outcome. All in all I hope he stays , but would be fine if he left on good terms with us and us with him
