I'm not having a go at Ayew here because he's one of our most gifted players and I hope that yesterday will put to bed any daft suggestions about him being sold during this window.

But has anyone else noticed an increasing tendency for him not to play the ball through to another player and try to grab the glory himself? It's happened regularly this season but for me it's been particularly noticeable of late and happened again yesterday.

We all remember earlier this season when he teed up Gomis against Man U with the outside of his boot. I just can't imagine him doing that now, can you?

Has anyone else noticed this? If so, what are the reasons behind it? The way we play or his lack of faith in others around him? Maybe both?

Imo its as if he's trying to show how good he is to prospective buyers in the summer. There is an element of greed but if he keeps scoring we benefit in more ways than one. That's where Bony was good, he used to tee up the likes of Gylfi often.

To me that puts him even more in the shop window, by scoring a few and setting even more up, would show he is an even better player. Maybe he doesn't trust what is around him and thinks he is better going himself, which I don agree with. As long as he scores us enough to keep us up I don't care.

For all that Siggy was also a bit guilty of that yesterday, both should have set Ki up.

When Ayew gets a chance , I want him to take it .
I like Ayew a lot , class player , class guy , works his arse off ...generally an all round good guy and player .
The only 2 reasons I would like to sell him now are 1 : MONEY , this is the window we can make the most , plus he's playing well to drive up the price .2: we are always moving players around to accommodate .He may be our top scorer but our goals are down .He doesn't play our wing like our wingers generally play , but he's a winger ..
If we don't sell him why get a striker in , we will have no place to play Ayew .

He's leading by example imo , watch how he directs players and encourages them , maybe there's a lot to be said regarding him putting him self in the shop window but did anyone really expect we'd keep him

I don't think anyone on here doesn't think he puts a shift in and is playing very well, But I do see what kiff is saying there are times he give the ball to others. Saying that as long as keeps nicking winners I don't care.

Neither do I and it's too late to replace him in this window anyway as a new man would need to settle in.

Aren't all the best strikers just a little selfish?

He could be under direct orders to hang onto the ball and take as many chances he can .
Causing penalty situations alone would justify this train of thought , not saying this is the case but could be part of it .

I can't agree that selling Ayew is in any way good for us during this window. Utter madness.

I hope that we don't sell Ayew ...BUT , if we did we would make a bundle and we would be able to get back to a normal formation .To not see that as a positive is just not wanting to look Imo .A win , win whatever happens .

We made a bundle (smallish) on Shelvey and we haven't spent that yet.

We spent 8.5 on Tabanou and Eder , would have looked better in the bank right about now .

We currently need players who can put the ball in the net not 10 million or whatever the figure is sitting in the bank earning 2% interest .

Sell well in January , buy smart in summer ....that's how you survive financially in this market for a low budget team . My point about having the 8.5 million in the bank is it was a complete and total waste of money . Rather it in the bank than in the garbage Matt .

When you need players in the January market to avoid relegation , players and agents have you between a hard place and a mountain . The best money we spent so far this season was paying off Monk .Results have started to flow since . My point with Ayew possibly leaving is if he went , we actually might start to scoring more goals ....as a team . Things have picked up for us since Monk left , If Ayew leaves , get a striker .If Ayew stays , don't get a striker .This is not the window to panic buy , this is the time to sell to panic buyers .
