I think today will be pivotal, if it gets done it would be today, if it doesn't I think the likes of premier league will have turned his head. Fingers crossed.

At least we will get to him first, and he's been keen for a long time to join us.
    Fingers crossed.

I think he'll choose us, Swansea will only be in the prem for a season, and he's worked with NP last season, better to play regularly and get promoted with a club than be thrown in at the deep end.

If he is sensible then we would be a better move for him than Swansea. A regular start in a decent championship side is going to do more for his long term career than being a backup at a likely to struggle Premier League side.

    Naive statement, that.

First of all there are no guarentees Swansea will be relegated.
Secondly there are no guarentees we will be promoted.
Thirdly, his liking for NP will be weighed against doubling his salary at Swansea.
Fourthly, playing for one season in the Premiership puts him in the shop window. If he does well, even if they are relegated another Prem side will buy up his contract.

I think, if the stories are true about Swansea's interest our chances of getting him are minimal.

if we sign Ayala and keep the defence fit and free from injuries i think we will end the season with the best defensive record in the championship.

Why would he 'double' his wages at Swansea? Do you know the wage structure? They may impose a £10k ceiling per week a la Blackpool.

It is fair to say 'most' promoted teams struggle around the arse end of the table, in my opinion all 3 promoted teams will occupy the bottom 3 slots. I don't think any have brought in sufficient quality to stay up.

Why would he want to go as cover for Gary Monk, which is the only reason Swansea are interested, allegedly. As a young player it's more Important to play games, I'd position him as our best centre half if signed, thus if fit and in form should be first choice.

    Not naive at all <ok>

OK, your opinion, although I doubt any professional footballer would see things your way.

The only factor acting in our favour is Ayala's relationship with Nigel Pearson and I think if nothing is heard today we can kiss this goodbye.

If we manage to sign him then I think its a fantastic signing to make our squad stronger in depth. Everyone I've spoke to about it says well who would you drop? The answer is you wouldn't yet, but he's there to be called upon when something does happen.

If we don't get him then I suppose we will look elsewhere for a defender to cover in McShanes absense?

Both Leicester and West Ham have signed players ahead of Premiership clubs. More to life than your ideological myopic view <ok> we may offer comparable wages, better long term future with a young squad that if kept together will in my opinion be promoted in the next 2 years. He will then be part of a team that has grown together, he will have more first team experience. He'll be better placed as a more experienced nucleus of younger players to grow with the club, and hopefully get us up and keep us up. It's all about the bigger picture <ok>

    Compared with Hull!? lol

Post of the day imo lol

On a serious note thou i dont think he would be offered much more money with us but prem league football i think will be too tempting for him.

Best of luck for the season :)

SPOT ON POST MATE. His relationship with NP will be the Key. He knows Hull and also with Gulacsi here to boot.
City should get this wrapped up today. Would be nice as Ayala can play tuesday night. Ideal game to start with.

Swansea, along with Sunderland, is the biggest hell hole I've visited in my life.

    My opinion of course.

Its full of Welsh people too. Big no no.

He may as well stay @ Liverpool and play in there reserve team than Swansea's. Good luck for your PL season. You shall need it. First game a week tonight at Man City.. Ooouuch. Take a white flag.

Good post mate I completely agree with this. Hopefully NP will have alternatives lined up just in case.

I wonder if I could get odds on something like this...

Love to have him, but football being what it is he will most likely go where the money is. Hope I'm wrong.
