Lunchtime kickoffs usually are worse than others, but thought this was one of the worst atmospheres in recent memory at St Mary's. Utterly dead and even when the Northam did get going, why is it that 200 Blackpool fans can make more noise than 2500 in the Northam? Doesn't help when many "lads" in the Northam turn up 5-10 minutes into the ****ing game. Can't blame the team for starting slowly if many fans can't be arsed to get there for kickoff.
What concerns me the most is how much some of the fans get on the back our players. We have had a terrific season so far but because of this people seem to jump on any player that makes a mistake. It was a shock for the team to concede the second goal today but the players were patient and picked themselves up and got a deserved point. It was the players picking the fans up not the other way around. I am glad we have great team spirit, which Adkins has built.
Sadly, you almost get the feeling that some are almost waiting to have a moan. But that aside, the late comers, early leavers is getting worse and worse every week. I'd like a couple of the players and maybe Adkins to point that out to perhaps shame a few fans to pull their fingers out. Really, what is the ****ing point of going to a game if you turn up 5 minutes late, **** off 5 minutes before half time, get back to your seat 5 minutes into the second half and then **** off before the end. Gets on my tits.
Yes, I do not understand why people leave early, except under unusual circumstances (I had to leave one game 10 mins early once) because it is not a cheap past-time. I remember having an argument with a guy who kept standing on my feet, he said he was just getting behind the team and showing passion, then he left 10 mins early! You also felt that we could get something today and credit to the team for keeping on going when everything was going against them. I left today feeling elated but I think a lot of people were overly negative as we played very well today.
We played ok today, but you can tell the away form is affecting the team aswell as the fans. Both seem nervous, the fans seem nervous to start up a song just incase we go behind. I had a twat who kept on getting up and down every 20 mins to get a drink etc, infront of me takes the piss.
Alright I admit I wasn't at the game today but on tv the fans seemed in good voice in parts! Very clear "were coming for you" at the beginning
