Carabao Cup or English League Cup whatever you want to call it.

Chance to blood our new keeper signing Daniel Grimshaw against the joint top of the league Watford.

How do we play this...... play a strong team or give the fringe players a run out....although it is hard to decide who makes up our strong starting eleven at the moment and who are fringe players.

Will we start our two red cards in this non-league game.....Forshaw misses one.... but Issaka getting a straight red will miss three.

I think he'll pick a different side. Playing for an hour with 10 men is more tiring even than a typical game, so changes are inevitable.

Decent performance by a much changed Argyle side. It’s been marred though by a mistake by Grimshaw who somehow let a little near post flick trickle past him for 1-0. Not a good start

MotM at half time probably Djabi. Callum Wright has wasted a couple of decent opportunities by poor shots and shooting when a pass was a better option.

Bad news on the injury front. Galloway doesn’t make the restart after half time and Grimshaw down at 52 minutes with an apparent hamstring problem. He has a carried in though.

Torrid first 10 or 15 minute for Argyle in the second half but back in the game now. Callum Weight continuing to be wasteful…..

Great save from Grimshaw prevents Watford from getting a second.

Argyle fail to clear a round of head tennis and Watford get a second from close in. No blame on Grinshaw.

Hardy hits the post from a narrow angle after chasing down a lost cause.

Well once again we made life hard for ourselves by conceding a very soft goal early on.

That said, it wasn’t a bad first half but Watford seemed to step up a gear in the second which we couldn’t match. We wasted good positions particularly through Callum Wright and we hardly made a decent chance, apart from the Hardie effort which was just down to his desire to score at all costs.

I don’t know what you can learn from a game with so many team changes. There were som good things, particularly from Djabi, and we looked better when Randell came and started to ping it about a bit. All in all though it just didn’t look joined up.

I assume Djabi is supposed to be Gyabi..

So five games into the season and no one knows yet who Rooney's first eleven is....it's starting to look messy without any obvious plan.

I notice Stoke score five at Middlesboro.....not a good omen for Saturday.

That’s not a fair comment at all.

Firstly, we’ve had new signings within the last few days and it seems there may be another in imminently. As the squad changes, the team changes.

Secondly, we had two red cards in the previous game, so there are two squad changes before you start.

Thirdly, this was the second game in 3 days so you’d expect a bit of rotation to keep as many as possible match fit.

Lastly, because we had two sent off (OK one very late), the other nine outfield players had to work even harder than usual, so the need for rotation was greater still. This was the League Cup after all, it's the league that counts.

With all the squad changes, I don’t suppose he is entirely sure of his First 11. It was notable that in the first game, he went almost entirely with newbies but since that poor performance players like Joe Edwards and Adam Randell seem to have come back into his thinking and so they should: Edwards is just being Edwards and Randell is I think playing the best football I’ve seen from him to date, and he was no slouch before.

As more money has been available from TV fees and the sale of Michael Cooper, we’ve probably spent more than ever. It will take time to bed in, so give the club and the manager a chance.

Didn't see it on the live coverage last night but the replay on Argyle TV shows that the second goal looks to be offside.
