A few stories of note from today away from the track......................

A remembrance service was held for Ginger McCain at Liverpool Cathedral with 1000 friends, relatives and admirers filling the place. Fitting words from Tommy Stack, who was celebrating his 66th birthday today: "The way he looked after that horse is a credit to him. To go to Liverpool five times, win three and be second twice - it will never be done again."

Meanwhile down in London Sir Henry received his Knighthood from the Queen and looked pleased to bits. He commented jokingly: "I was the first person from my prep school to fail common entry to Eton so I think I was qualified to be a porter - I've been very lucky." Did Sir Barney Chuckles once give him a roasting?

And finally ........................ Godolphin have closed down Saeed Bin Suroor's satellite stable in the USA as "Saeed no longer has a requirement for it". More like a case of Godolphin no longer have a need for this useless trainer ................

Saeed's been on the way out for a while. I'm told that Sheikh Mo hardly ever visits the Suroor yard now, he spends most of his time when in Newmarket at Al Zarooni's.

Any idea how often he gets over to the yard Princess? I guess he's a pretty busy bloke, but on the other hand he'll have enough Bizjets on standby to fly him wherever he wants to go ................. always wondered how "hands on" he is with his racing operation

Ive been saying for a while now that if Godolphin put all there best horse's in the care of Al Zarooni, then they can compete with Juddmonte and Coolmoore. Too many top class horse's careers have been ruined by that clown Bin Suroor:biggrin:

I think we have to keep things in perspective here. Saeed Bin Suroor has done well by any standard. He may not be everyone's cup of tea, but then again, who is? He gained his ticket 17 years ago.

No coincidence that now we have a racing man at ‘number 10’ that one of our major stars in Sir Henry gets Knighted. Should have happened years ago but, of course, formerly Mr Boom and Mr Bust gave out ‘gongs’ solely as a result of who contributed the most to party coffers. Also, so chuffed that Mr Cameron listened to the nation and proffered one on the legendary Sir Brucie so early into his reign as well. That was nice to see, to see...NICE!

I wonder though who will be the next racing personality to be ‘touched with the old sword’?!? Sir Mr Henderson has a certain ring to it, methinks.

SBC - In the sunday mail there is a journo Patrick Collins who over the last 2 weeks has asked for Lester Piggot to be re-awarded his honour of the mbe. He has compared the disparagey between a so called Lord Jeffrey Archer, who spent time in jail for tax evasion, and who has kept hold of his title 'Lord Archer', and all the benfits that comes with it... (i will try and get the piece and post it...)

But so much was the responce to Mr Collins in this sundays read he has updated his request to ask that he be upgraded towards being called Sir Lester Piggot...

If, as you say Mr Cameron has an interest towards the racing community, then this story may well gather momentum...

Well if Henry Cecil, a man who used to pay teenage girls for sex, can get an MBE, then I see no reason why Lestor Piggot's MBE can't be re awarded

Careful Shergar. Is that factual and in the public domain?

Can't comment on the veracity of KS's assertions but I do know that Cecils behaviour pre/during and after his second drink driving conviction was frankly nauseating.

I have had a close friend severely impacted by the likes of "Sir Henry",like many others, and find the man grossly offensive.

How this repeat felony didn't result in a custodial sentence beggars belief.

Agree with SBC in that Henderson ticks all the boxes if the Cecil elevation is evidential.

Disgusting affair, both at the time and the subsequent reward bestowed on the mendacious criminal.

Dex....I can't talk much about drink driving, as i myself am on a ban. Though I havent been done twice like HC. Personally Im not the biggest fan of HC, and I cannot stand the holier than thou image, he has amongst the Racing public.

Yes he's a very good trainer, not as good as Sir Micheal Stoute in my view, but still a good trainer. What I cannot accept is a man who who used to hire teenage prostitutes, receiving a knighthood, yet a man like Lestor Piggot not being allowed a knighthood because of abit of tax evasion.

Henry Cecil will always have my respect as a trainer, but my opinIon of him as a person is very low:biggrin:
