Speaking of Hull, how can OLM say they're entertaining? Just fell asleep watching them Boring, defensive tactics.
I turned it off at half time, Blackpool kept getting offside, Matty Fryatt couldnt control a ball, Aaron McLean was useless and Stewarts crosses couldnt beat the first man. Great goal from Ince
Yeah top finish. Seemed we dodged a bullet with Stewart. As I said, he only had a hot streak around Jan, he's gone back to doing **** all again
I'm confused, how can you say our tactics were defensive? You never got to see our tactics because we kept giving Blackpool the ball. That's being ****, not being defensive. It was an uncharacteristic display though, you can see from match stats most week that we usually have the majority of the possession and loads of shots that miss the target (the miss being the bit that annoys us), but at one point in the second half Blackpool had 75% possession for the game and we'd barely had a sniff. No, it's a Friday night and it's about a 3 hour drive thanks to roadworks on the motorway. I can't think many people would think it was worth trying to get their after work, or after their kids finished school when any delay would see them missing kick off, not when they could watch it on telly and then have a night out afterwards. We're still supposed to have sold over 900 in advance and there'll have been more paying on the day so it wasn't that small if we're averaging about 1,500.
Would you have such a big away following if your fans could afford to go to home games though? Only you're sitting at about 1/7 of home fans going to away games, while we're at somewhere between 1/12 and 1/13, I'm not working out the rest because I can't be arsed to.
I don't think it has anything to do with that, it shows that Leeds have a fan base in every town and city in the UK. When Leeds played Peterborough away myself and a group of friends travelled from Northampton for the game, there were lots of fans travelling from the area.
Over 1,000 away fans on a Friday in a televised game isn't bad at all, particularly when we have another game on Tuesday night. We were poor last night, but it had absolutely nothing to do with being defensive, we were just poor(we always are when the camera's are on). Though I'm sure that won't stop Andy King's Crown Jewels making up his mind on our ability based on the single game he's seen. It's a very small mind after all.
I've not made up my mind at all. I'm sure that's not how you always play, but it's quite laughable how you say you play 'exciting' football then send me to sleep at first sight
I've seen several Leeds fans on forums posting saying that they're not going to pay your prices whilst Bates is there so they're going to do away games instead, usually when explaining why your home attendances had dropped so much. Or in order to defend how massive your club is with fans everywhere are we saying that your home gates are a true reflection of you local support?
Peterborough have a great away following seeming they average about 7k at home. Surprised at MK Dons being so low.
Could their's be because they used to be a London club? I don't know how many of the Wimbledon fans went to following AFC as opposed to MK. Obviously the AFC formation got the headlines, but whatever remained as MK fans are the hardcore support, they'd have to be to effectively have an away game every time they have a home game. The newer fans won't be as hardcore yet (in proportion) so are less likely to travel away, and the hard core are possibly struggling for the finances to do home and away when really it's away and away. I guess the way to check would be to compare their average away with their London away?
Those same fans would have done the away games anyway. It's not in place of home games under normal circumstances, it's alongside them. It's just that Bates' presence has driven many fans away from Elland Road untilhe leaves. If we had an ambitious and sensible owner, we'd be selling out Elland Road every week along with our away allocations. Our home gates reflect nothing except the obvious: how many fans are willing to keep going to home games. [nsfw]Keep it secret, but our fans are boycotting Elland Road.[/nsfw] I don't think any fans still go from Wimbledon to MK to watch football. MK Dons' fanbase tends to come from Milton Keynes people who've recently decided either to start supporting football (and adopted their local team), who are neutrals who go to watch the Dons just because it's convenient, or who used to support another team and then switched when a local option became available. There will also be fans of the old MKFC and Wolverton FC, both of whom were merged into the Dons along with Wimbledon. In short, they don't take many away because their hardcore support is piss-poor.
