Friday nights trip to face Milwall presents a crucial fixture if you look at our recent history.

10/11 Drew 3-3 (Not Promoted) - But a great trip <ok>
11/12 Drew 0-0 (Not Promoted)
12/13 Won 2-0 (Promoted)
14/15 Lost 1-0 (Not Promoted)

Depending on how much you believe in fate and tea leaves, does a victory on Friday night indicate that this will be a promotion season or am I reading too much into this? <laugh>

Millwall and Cardiff have a very even playing record;

Millwall W 21
City W 20,
Draw 24

I expect the City fans who attended the away match in December 1930 saw an exciting game - a 4 - 4 draw

Our biggest win at Millwall came in a Division Three match in September 1982 with a 0 - 4 result

Neither of these matches were played in a promotion season but apparently there were reports of increased sales of tea leaves during the season!

Marks & Spencer's used to have a run on brown underpants for a fortnight before the game.

City were promoted in 1982-83 season; the Ashurst team with the Bennett brothers, Hemmerrman and Hatton.

Unfortunately, 1983 was ten years before I was born so I can only speculate over how you possibly get a clock back from an away trip <laugh>
 
I was in the home stand that day so had left before the dismantling. All I can recall was a
constant barrage of objects flying through the air between the terraces.

That was a fantastic season; some great away days plus a promotion. Favourite games we’re the 3-2 home win v Newport on Boxing Day & the away win at Chesterfield. The worst were the away defeats at Plymouth & Newport.

City did well to come back after the Newport loss. From memory Pompey were next up for Newport and beat them at Somerton Park. Newport didn't recover after that and it was the start of their slippery slope to oblivion.

I used to alternate watching City and Newport at home with a few away trips with City. Derbies were always difficult. <yikes>
 
I remember the home game v Wigan we won 3-2 and a guy called willie Woof scored the winner. I'm 52 now so I could be wrong. Also I think we drew 2-2 with Oxford away Jimmy Mullen equalised late and ended up on the fence at the away end. Godfrey Ingram played that day. I could be getting my seasons mixed up mind.<doh>

No you’re right. Billy Woof scored on his debut and then was sold after falling out with Ashurst.

Remember going to the old Springfield Park for the away game. Boring 0-0 sitting on the terraces full of weeds!

Yes I recall the Oxford game squashed into the away end in the rain. 2-2 as you say

A great season, up there as one of my favourites
