    Greetings my mackem comrades.

Look. Its been a week off and as much as I got sick of the ****e flying around, I missed the crack as well. Been chatting to a couple of you off line over the passed few days(top lads Bruce's Beak and Dorset) and with their telling me not to be a daft bugger and all that, I thought after the cup game and today's effort, I'd post again. I mean, even chappies (SAFC's 12th man), has started to become semi human in the interim period so why the frig not. Also, Syd's very eloquent message tonight has swayed my judgement as well. Honourable mentions to Bobby, Welder, MR and Tiz.

Lets see, where are we now?

Okay, the derby has gone. Lots of blathering from SB about chances we didn't take and all that (personally, I reckon we could still be playing the game and not have scored but thats history as they say) so lets forget that - for now. What about Tuesday?

First time in 37 seasons that I have seen a manager of Sunderland send a team out in a must win game, to be settled on the night, with no recognised striker in the line up. Crazy? Its absolute bloody madness to me. Forget this crap about SB sees him (Sess) as a striker. He isn't one. End of. If SB said my ex-wife was just a misunderstood lady, him saying it wouldnt make it so. She isn't a ****ing saint or a lady and Sess ain't no striker. We lost the game, out of the cup and there is only one man to blame. (no prizes for the culprit guys, its too obvious). The team on Tuesday's sounded as if they were as mystified as the supporters and it was an unforgivable and unacceptable decision from Captain Clueless.

So to today's game. At least the team had a more balanced look to it and the main villains (not their fault by the way) Richo and Elmo were taken out of the equation. How do the team play? Honestly? I thought okay actually but again, we never looked like scoring. Our approach play and our general play were much better than either
Saturday gone or Tuesday and we should have won. We could have won. We drew and thats the problem. We lack a cutting edge. Had we bought one (after 8 months of apparently looking for one) we would have beaten the craas, beaten Brighton AND IMO, beaten Swansea today. We would have had 7 points and been into the next round of the cup easily. That we are neither is down to one man. Steven Bruce. No doubts in my mind. We have been light of a top goal scorer since January and now all of a sudden he has admitted to that fact. What a friggin plank we have for a manager.

So where do we go. I have read in the press and on Sky about how we are close to signing a couple of strikers. Horse-****e. What we are close to is a couple of cheap panic buys/loans. At 12 noon last weekend, there were no plans at the SOL to bring in any more players. Coco the clown (or SB to his followers) had decided that Richardson was a left back and Sess and Gyan were our top striking duo. A week later and another awful derby defeat and a humiliating cup exit to lower league opposition later and the panic button has been pushed by someone. Whether thats Bruce or Quinn is uncertain but panic like **** is what we are going to do for the next 4 or 5 days. Cue a Tore Andre Flo style signing before Wednesday. Bruce has no money to spend (despite all the bluster I reckon Short has said **** off to any more money) and a cheap loan signing, or a peanuts permanent signing is imminent.

Had we scored today we would have won (Swansea were absolutely hopeless and will get slaughtered by most teams this season) of that there is no doubt. That we havent won AGAIN (we now have 2 points from a possible 9 and have been dumped out of the first cup competition already) is the reason that I have no faith in the manager to pull this round. Far from being buoyed by today I am even more convinced that Bruce has to go quickly in order for someone (anyone, even my old mam) to come in and shake this squad up now. Its not just 4 games is it? Its the past 26 since January.

All in all, with the benefit of sound logic and a weeks contemplation, I am absolutely, 100% totally convinced that Bruce has to be replaced. No question in my mind at all.

Even a drink fuelled all day session hasn't altered my opinion. We are doomed if Bruce is retained for too long in the managers hot seat. Doomed.

PS -good to be back and full of optimism. Cheers to BB and Dorset for your kind words and support but for some on here, hell, I dont give a rats arse what you think anyway. You know who you are. My big black diary is full with your names. Lol.

2 weeks off until hostilities resume and who knows who will be our first team by then?

Welcome back cest, and just playing Devils advocate here.

The striker probem, coud it be that SB knew for months we needed one, but he didnt want to be seen going against Quinn and Short by saying he needed one since the transfer window opened (openly I mean), especially as he has brought in 10 players.

The Transfer window usually kicks off big time in the last week, so maybe he has his sights on someone, but he cant get them until other clubs do business, so the one he is after is surples to requirements.

As for the Cup, isnt that what the cup is all about, Romance, yes it hurts like hell when you are on the receiving end of the defeat, but thats what makes the English Cups, Engish Cups, we would have never got past the last 16 in `73 never mind won the thing if the best teams always won their matches. (or got to the Milk Cup final/Fa Cup final in the 80`s/90`s)

    Just watched Bruce's interview.

He seems to think you were unlucky and deserved to win in every single game you played in <doh>

    What a knobhead.

To be fair, if Gyan wasn't a greedy bastard, we would surely have scored 2.

Swans had their moments as well tho, draw looked fair.

Yea just think he seems to ignore the opponent's team performance.

Completely ignored the fact we were by far the better team in the second half and pretty much said the same thing today. It's not like I really care , but just pointing it out.

Steve, I'm all for cup romance mate but you have to at least back yourself first and as a minimum requirement, surely you have to play your best team (or at the very least a bloody striker) to compete.

I dont think Bruce has the intellect to play mind games with the board over strikers and is just a thick arsehole who though he could win a game by being a clever ****er. He's Not and we didn't. Simple as. Mind you, if he did get us knocked out of the cup to see who has the biggest cock between Quinny and himself, he should be dragged by his testicles on piano wire through the streets of Sunderland for being so arrogant.

As for the board giving him money for a striker (and we will see soon enough how much that may be by the calibre of whoever we bring in - dont hold your breath for any big names btw) so we are stuck with what we have got. Will we score enough goals between now and January? IMO, no. Will we bring in a striker that will solve that by Wednesday? Again IMO, no. However, I do think we will bring 'someone' in to help out. Whoever that is though, it won the a Judas replacement we so desperately need and so passionately wanted but will instead be a much cheaper compromise.

Without defending him too much, he said 'Newcastle weren't better than us', which was fair, a draw was probably about right but we are ****ing gutless up top, i only saw highlights today tho, and a draw lookedfair indeed.

To be fair to Bruce (not my current trait I know) but what else is an under pressure manager going to come out and say you slack arsed mong?

" Oh yes, BTW, we were ****e and should have been beaten and deserve nothing cos we are toothless up front".

Bruce is clutching at straws looking for a chink of light to shine in his current management. He is struggling but I cant blame him for trying to spin positives. The fact remains, even for Bruce cynics such as myself, that we HAVE created plenty of chances but havent taken any. The problem is that Bruce was the manager that sold our chance taker supreme, didn't replace him in January, has struggled ever since and still hasn't rectified the problem 8 months later.

Gross negligence on behalf of the manager? You better believe it is.

Well i didnt mean getting knocked out on purpose to get a striker, you have to look at Brighton as well, we were away, they have won all their games bar 1 which they drew (only in part to K Phillips) as they were 2-0 up in that one, they are playijng some good football they are top of the championship and looking like certs (a lot can change though) for the PL next season, yes Liverpool might very well turn them over, but its in no way a certainty, Gyan just doesnt look up for it, Wickham and ji should have played, but didnt, we did get a draw and only got knocked out in extra time.

and pretty sure it was Quinn that promissed us a judas replacement, not sure if Bruce ever did, but who is there out there that could get the goals Bent got us, we could get messi and he may still be a flop.
