Just read this article and it made me think.
    http://www.spurs.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=7515329
We are all banging on about new strikers midfielder's etc, but what about a backup for Lloris.
Brad is going to be 42 very soon and he obviously won't be around much longer, but what alternatives do we have-
as the article says Archer and Miles are 20yo Archer has had a bit of league exposure with Wycombe, Miles none.
Do we cross fingers and hope that when Brad retires one of them will take over or does AVB look for a good experienced back up now.
    Thoughts?

    I'd be happy with Gomes!

I'd like to see Jordan Archer become our back up. Not seen him play much but have read great things about from Wycombe fans on Twitter. Many said he was far too good for their league and that they reckoned he had a big future and he'd be Scottish no.1 soon enough if he continued impressing.

Brad is still here and still a good deputy. So i would rather AVB spent his money elsewhere.
When Brad retires/moves/loses it we then need to look into it and assess whether Archer/Miles are good enough.

I am actually happy with Gomes as back-up, he seems like a decent bloke and popular member of the squad, and he hasn't complained about being frozen out.

The trouble is, is Gomes happy with Gomes as back-up?

I doubt Gomes will play back up. He's made it clear he wants first team footy in a recent interview as he still holds hope of getting into the Brazil 2014 squad.

I will stand corrected but I was under the impression that Andre didn't fancy Gomes and that was why he was loaned out with a view to a permanent move.
Don't get me wrong Brad is a very capable back up but as a few have stated he doesn't dominate his area and the defenders are always looking over their shoulders just in case.
Wouldn't it be prudent to see what either Archer or Miles can do before casting them aside?

i prefer a steady if unspectacular goalkeeper to a spectacular and sometimes calamitous one.
I don't want gomes on the pitch

Surely we can wait until the end of next season, then nab Butland for a steal of a price off a (fingers crossed) relegated Stoke?

Butland will want first team I suspect. Friedel will be good enough for another year, after that I have hopes that Archer will step up.

Same. I was shocked anyone brought him up, he created absolute havoc in our own penalty box and his concentration was awful at times.

Archer is doing well from what I've seen and heard, I'd like to see him given a few friendlies in preseason to test him.

Did anyone see much of Gomes on his loan spell? How did he look? I gather he had a dismal defence in front of him which probably didn't help much...

For all the points Gomes 'worldies' saved, he then cost us with repeated and that is the key word 'repeated', fumbles and errors. I can forgive keepers the odd one, thats part of the game, but I was always wondering when Gomes next one would happen, by that I mean every damn cross that came in! The Bundesliga is not the PL, so how he did there or anywhere is irrelevant imo, when tested here by the more physical sides, just couldn't man up.

Hopefully Baldini is on the case and looking for a goalie that can come in this time next year and be competiton/back up for Lloris.

Sorry but I never, ever want to see Gomes play for Spurs again. No doubt he could be a very good keeper elsewhere for someone else. But his time at Spurs is done and has been for years. I never again want to endure the intense worry I felt with every cross, every punt up the pitch, every long-range shot. Every team would target him.

Happy with Brad for another year as back-up. He says he feels fine so I'll take his word for it - the guy's a machine and may well play into his mid-late forties.
