Sun and sand. A winter temp here in Queensland that often matches the Northern Summer. Just about the whole country has a quarter acre block. As for snakes and spiders, you just kill the f u c k e r s.
I'm 60 and haven't seen a redback on a dunny seat since I was a kid. Heaps of them on the outside walls though. Gotta spray 'em regularly.

I can't be sure of the numbers, but I think around 5000 people die on our roads each year, next to nobody dies of a spider or snake bite. We've had a few shark deaths in the last few years, and one or two from croc. But if you live in town and swim between the flags, you're as safe as houses. Tv sensationalises this stuff, it looks more scary than it really is. PS I'm the old, well hung gent.

We have a varied population. Of the 22 million, nearly 5 million were born somewhere else. Of those 5 mill, just over 1 mill come from the UK. So it's not the convicts that are arriving these days, but the working class and wealthy with good taste.
