Just read Cashley is in for Charlie Austin (BBC sport) for £10 m why has he went public ?, no way will you get him for that price, and 17 goals I believe he has this season. Hell of a signing though he would be.
It's probably a publicity stunt to stop people from cancelling ST's and to try to minimize any impact from the planned boycott [if that indeed happens.] Mere spin from the club.
Amazing timing isn't it. We get Armstrong rolled out to tell us its all alright, and we have it leaked that we're buying Austin. It couldn't possibly be the boycott and the ST timing could it?
Nail on the head. He's trying to chill people out before the weekend. When we get battered tonight he could say we are about to sign Messi and it wouldn't make any difference. Of curse we won't sign Austin. He's probably worth £20m and Mike simply won't pay.
If we get battered I have a feeling that a few that were sitting on the fence will make their minds up. The club are running scared. They know. They really know this time.
It would just be like us to put in a performance, get a result and then the boycott will become a damp squib. Happened last season with that walk out. You can bet that had Cardiff been winning, a lot more would have walked.
I'm not so sure this time. Last time Pardew was there and, though I loathed the man, he didn't lose the dressing room. Carver never had the dressing room in the first place. Liverpool will come steaming out of the blocks and I can see this being 4 or 5 at the end. At least. As you say, a few fence sitters will just not bother - it's a good chance to not go, the game's on the telly if you're desperate/sadistic. There'll be a few who'll be "give it til half time" and I expect Spurs to follow Liverpool's lead and easily roll us over. Boycott or not, there'll be an embarrassing lack of fans at the end of the game next Sunday.
I actually hope Liverpool turn up tonight and pile drive us in to the ground. Why? Just so any chance of a boycott/ protest can happen. I suspect it's more likely if we get humped tonight. Should Spurs turn up on Sunday then come half time we could see the fans spilling out. It would be funny if of the fans that turn up on Sunday there were only a few thousand left by the end.
Talk of signings, investment and overhauls is all designed to sow a little seed of doubt in the minds of the fans. Like it's been said boycotts and non renewals of season tickets will have the Board just a little edgy. The best thing that can happen tonight is fir Liverpool to smash us mercilessly. It's not something l want to see, of course it's not, but if it gives more impetus to the protest planned fir Spurs then bring it on. Likewise, I hope that those who do turn up, if they cannot stay away will make their opinions heard and if necessary get up a nd walk out to show Ashley and the world we have had enough of the ****e and the lies. Ashley Out!
I would never want us to lose, no matter the circumstances and especially now I have a few bevvies riding on it!
Since when have fans believed what they read in the media. Everyone knows it made up and in the case of NUFC, pulled out of a Xmas Cracker....
Austin? Ashley spend money on anybody who isn't French and ****? He'll join someone like Stoke or Hull if QPR go down.
10m isn't enough. 20m is right over the top. Regardless would like to see it. As you have all said the timing of news smells somewhat fishy to me!
